Purchasing Specialist

Position SummaryThe Purchasing Specialist is a seasoned professional with a track record of success in a fast-paced manufacturing environment including developing people, performance, managing change, cost improvements, and developing and sustaining effective vendor relationships. This position oversees the management of all purchasing functions and directs activities so that approved purchases are shipped on-schedule and within quality standards and cost objectives.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesEnsure accountability and fiscal responsibility of purchasing agents through process education and continued coaching through the continued establishment, implementation, and maintenance of purchasing and inventory standardsManage the processing of purchase orders and change orders, while communicating with sales and operations team members to review for any potential discrepancies.Analyze details of production job work orders within the proprietary software system.Develop purchasing strategies which seek partnerships with vendors who offer the organization favorable pricing, consistent quality, and reliable fulfillment of ordersPerform cost analysis and inventory forecasting activities to create reorder benchmarks, establish minimum order quantities and make purchasing decisions that fully leverage the company's financial and physical resources.Work closely with the Production team to leverage their expertise and ensure production timelines are metWork closely with the Inventory team to ensure inventory and standard stocks are consistently available to meet production requirements.Ensure accountability with vendors when commitments are not met by negotiating issue resolutionOwnership of improvements for both the processes as well as the internal communication throughout the purchasing workflowOwnership of the purchasing module development and maintenance of supplier information within the company's ERP systemOther duties as assignedRequirementsQualificationsMust have a minimum of 3 years proven experience in a purchasing and vendor relations role. Signage Purchasing/Inventory Management preferred. Must be able to plan, order, negotiate price, and coordinate delivery of supplies, products and servicesMust be able to interface and effectively communicate with outside vendors as well as our inside teamMust be respectful, energetic, trustworthy, detail-oriented, and highly motivated!Must have a keen eye for detail and excellent critical thinking skillsPhysical Demands and Work EnvironmentPhysical demands: While performing the duties of this job, one is regularly required to sit at a desk and answer phones and work on computer desktops. Occasionally, standing and walking to copiers, printers, and scanners is required.
