Please note: For our intern positions, we accept applications on a rolling basis and review them regularly; however, please note that we may not always have active openings.Position SummaryThe Graphic Design Intern is a temporary, on-site, entry-level support position, generally a student or recent college graduate, responsible for the design, layout, and formatting of materials. The Graphic Design Intern supports various internal team members by designing and performing production-level design tasks while learning and applying basic design principles.As a Creative team member, the Graphic Design Intern gains exposure to department projects and initiatives and learns from accomplished professionals in graphic design, digital design, and marketing communications.Essential FunctionsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Learns how the Graphcom team maintains, translates, and extends the look and feel of digital and print-related marketing projectsApplies and contributes to Graphcom's goal of providing superior service to all organizations and people we meet, including customers, vendors, suppliers, co-workers, and the publicWorks with other designers to develop, design, or create new ideas, relationships, systems, or productsObserves, receives, and otherwise obtains information from all relevant sourcesWorks closely with Art Director or other senior staff to organize, plan, and prioritize work by developing specific goals and plansConsistently delivers high-quality services to all clientsEnsures user friendliness in digital projects, including web design, email, app design, etc.Develops and implements design languageWorks closely with Art Director or senior staff to manage resources within budget and project scheduleConceptualizes and develops artwork following brand guidelines, including applying proper typography techniques, fonts, and layouts using design softwareResearches, develops, presents, and executes photography campaign directionMakes edits as requested by the clientChecks all work for spelling errors and has a second set of eyes review work before sending for client reviewProvides write-ups to team members to sell design to the clientMaintains brand standards and upholds creative excellencePersonally accountable for the accuracy of all final art, including trim, bleed, crop marks, size, color setting, etc.Annual review of job descriptionMaintains the highest level of security and confidentiality as defined by company policyOther duties as assigned by the VP, Creative, Creative Director, or President/CEOMinimum Job RequirementsAttendance at or graduation from a 4-year college with a degree in a related field and/or Associate's Degree in Graphic Design is preferred.0-1 year of relevant design experienceDesign ability and proficiency in software applications such as Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Microsoft Suite is required.Web design and photography skills are a plus.Strong sense of concept developmentExcellent interpersonal skillsSelf-starter willing to learn, develop, and polish the skills needed to succeed in a creative agency environment (problem-solving, presentation, project management, etc.)In-person attendance requiredComplete all required training courses upon hire and annually thereafterMaintain compliance with all company policies and proceduresWorking ConditionsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
