Journeyman Electrician
Job Overview
The Journeyman Electrician (Apartment Wireman) is responsible for performing high quality electrical installation work on multifamily and apartment construction projects. This role executes electrical rough in, trim out, and final installation activities while maintaining productivity, workmanship, and safety standards. Initial work will be based in the Newport area, with potential for future regional project assignments within Oregon as work progresses.
The Journeyman Electrician works as part of a field crew and supports the foundation of Cobalt’s growing electrical division by delivering consistent, code compliant electrical systems and contributing to a positive, team oriented jobsite culture.
Responsibilities
Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical systems in industrial, commercial, and construction environments
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to accurately execute projects
Work with low voltage and high voltage systems following NEC standards for safety and compliance
Utilize hand tools, power tools, ohmmeters, and other electrical testing equipment to diagnose issues
Program and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs) as required for automation systems
Conduct renovation work on existing electrical systems, ensuring minimal disruption to operations
Collaborate with construction teams on site to ensure proper installation of electrical components
Maintain detailed documentation of work performed for compliance and future reference
Adhere to all safety protocols related to construction site work and electrical procedures
Requirements
Valid Journeyman Electrician license or certification
Proven experience as an industrial or commercial electrician with a strong understanding of NEC standards
Hands-on experience with blueprint reading, schematics, and technical drawings
Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, ohmmeters, and other electrical testing devices
Experience working on construction sites or renovation projects involving electrical systems
Knowledge of low voltage and high voltage wiring practices
Ability to work independently or as part of a team in dynamic environments
Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Additional skills such as frame carpentry or handyman experience are a plus but not required
Must be comfortable working in various settings including construction sites and industrial facilities

Pay: $50.00 - $55.00 per hour
