Shell Operator, Swing Shift (Aluminum) - Ogden, UT

Primary Function: Responsible for the production of shell molds.ResponsibilitiesPrinciple Duties and Responsibilities: Hangs wax setups on conveyor line.Prepares, maintains and tests slurries per procedures.Applies correct slurries and stuccos to patterns per procedures through manual dipping or robot operation.Applies core pack to patterns.Uses the dry time system per procedures.Performs “tear down” of setups from hangers. (Takes setups off conveyor line and cleans shell offof hangers using hammer and air tool chisel.)Performs dewax operations using proper procedures.Blows off excess sand per procedures.Maintains lot integrity.Ensures paperwork is done properly.Helps other areas as needed.Minimum Job RequirementsAble to work in a production environment. Able to read and comprehend English.Able to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with tens and 100s.Able to lift and carry up to 35 lbs. frequently. Able to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions,and procedure manuals.Able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Able to writesimple correspondence.Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral ordiagram form.Able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.Able to complete OSHA forklift certification through PCC Structurals, Ogden.Able to complete PCC Shell certifications required in grade system. Near vision requirements are Jaeger J1 in one eye, at no less than 12 inches; or equivalent, or JaegerJ2 in one eye, at no less than 16 inchesAble to communicate effectively with co-workers.Willing to work overtime.Complies with company and departmental policies and procedures, including company’s attendancepolicy. Able to meet individual productivity requirements. Able to meet internal quality requirements.Desired CompetenciesHigh School Diploma or G.E.D.1 month of training or experience.Normal Working Conditions Works under indirect supervision following established practices and clear-cut policies in theperformance of the majority of duties. Makes decisions when general instructions, establishedmethods and clearly defined precedents indicate action to be taken, but refers unusual problems tosuperiors. Occasional work required in high, precarious places, near toxic or caustic chemicals, and extremeheat-non weather. Frequent work required near moving, mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. Typical noise for the work environment of this job is Loud Noise. (Ear protection required.) Occasional sitting, climbing, stooping or squatting, talking and hearing required. Frequent walking, using hands to handle or feel, reaching above shoulder level, reaching belowshoulder level, hearing, pushing or pulling required.
