Proposal Engineer

Job Title: Proposal EngineerJob DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled Proposal Engineer to support our diverse range of clients in the Life Sciences, Medical, and Food sectors. This role involves collaborating with various departments and analyzing historical data to develop comprehensive proposals and quotes. The position requires a deep understanding of automation systems and the ability to estimate software needs, hours, and costs effectively. The engineer will play a crucial role in the proposal phase, ensuring that all client requirements are met and risks are appropriately assessed for systems over $500K.Responsibilities+ Collaborate with various departments to develop proposals for clients in the Life Sciences, Medical, and Food sectors.+ Analyze historical and legacy data to create accurate proposals and quotes.+ Understand client requirements and translate them into effective automation solutions.+ Estimate software needs, hours, and develop a full cost model for proposals.+ Perform risk reviews for systems over $500K to ensure project feasibility.+ Utilize MS Visio and flowcharts to create detailed quotes and project timelines.+ Work on one proposal at a time, with timelines ranging from a few weeks to a month.+ Communicate specifics to clients if required by the sales team.Essential Skills+ At least 7 years of experience as a Proposal Engineer, Project Engineer, or Mechanical Engineer in automation systems.+ Minimum 3 years of experience in quoting and estimating aspects of projects.+ Proficiency in automation systems, estimation, flowchart creation, and Microsoft Visio.+ 5 years of experience working with MS Visio, MS PowerPoint, and flowcharts.+ Experience in robotics and automation systems is highly preferred.Additional Skills & Qualifications+ Previous experience in non-automotive sectors is highly preferred.+ Ability to adapt quickly to changing requirements and dynamic environments.+ Creative thinking and the ability to develop innovative solutions.+ Robotic experience is a plus.Work EnvironmentThe Proposal Engineer will join a team of two other engineers, one of whom is overwhelmed and the other less technical. The role involves less than 10% travel, primarily to customer sites if needed. The work environment is dynamic, with opportunities to engage with various departments and clients. The position is based in a location recognized as a hub for our engineering line, offering a diversified and robust market presence.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Auburn Hills, MI.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $58.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
