Role: Senior Full Stack Python Developer (AWS, GitLab/GitHub) Location: Reston, VA (Hybrid – 3 days onsite, Wed–Fri)Duration: 12+ Months ContractClient: Fannie MaeJob Description:This role is part of a critical application modernization and decommissioning initiative, requiring a developer who can design, build, and deploy scalable applications end-to-end while actively contributing to automation and cloud infrastructure.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain full stack applications using Python Build scalable backend services and APIs (FastAPI, Flask, or similar) Work on frontend components (Angular/React – basic to moderate level) Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitLab or GitHub Actions Deploy and manage applications on AWS cloud platform Collaborate with DevOps teams to implement Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred) Support application migration and legacy system decommissioning Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize application performance Participate in Agile development and SDLC processes Required Skills (Must-Have)Strong hands-on programming experience in Python (backend-heavy) Experience building full stack applications (API + UI integration) Solid experience with AWS services (Lambda, ECS/Fargate, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, CloudWatch, etc.) Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab or GitHub) Experience with SQL / database design and queries Strong understanding of application architecture and SDLC Experience working in cloud-native environments Preferred SkillsExperience with Terraform (Infrastructure as Code) Exposure to microservices architecture Experience with decommissioning / migration projects Financial services domain experience Familiarity with SAS (nice to have) QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field 12+Strong problem-solving and debugging skills Ability to work in a hybrid onsite model (Reston, VA)
