Payroll Specialist (Minneapolis)

PAYROLL SPECIALIST Hybrid (2 days onsite) Madison Street Search has partnered with a high-growth, private equity–backed organization that is building out its in-house payroll function and looking to add a Payroll Specialist to the team. This role reports directly to the Director of Payroll and sits within a collaborative, team-first environment focused on creating scalable, efficient payroll operations. Responsibilities Own end-to-end payroll processing across the U.S. and Canada, ensuring accuracy and timeliness Manage both recurring and off-cycle payroll activity, including adjustments and terminations Maintain and audit payroll data within ADP Workforce Now Support timekeeping workflows and system improvements, including UKG-related initiatives Ensure compliance with applicable payroll laws and regulations across jurisdictions Assist with audit requests, documentation, and process standardization efforts (SOPs) Partner with HR and internal teams to resolve discrepancies and improve data integrity Serve as a point of contact for payroll-related questions and vendor coordination Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience 5+ years of payroll experience, including multi-state U.S. and Canada Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now and UKG Strong understanding of payroll compliance and regulatory requirements Detail-oriented with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with cross-functional teams Perks Standard 40-hour week Competitive base salary + bonus + 401(k) match Generous PTO and additional company perks Opportunity to play a key role in building and improving payroll processes Exposure to system implementations, automation, and global expansion Strong long-term growth potential as the company scales
