The role focuses on providing nursing care to patients in labor and delivery, including triage and patient monitoring. First-timers are accepted, and scheduling preferences can be considered but are not guaranteed. Scheduling requests due to additional employment will not be considered. The position requires the ability to float to mother baby unit as needed.Key Responsibilities:Perform sterile vaginal exams independently without supervisionConduct triage assessmentsProvide nursing care to laboring patientsMonitor patient vitals and fetal statusFloat to mother baby unit as neededEducation Requirements:AWHONN Advanced certification (required must have a passing score)ACLS certificationBCLS certificationNRP certificationRequired Experience:Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in labor and delivery (1.5 years is the hard stop; under 2 years may be considered depending on experience)Expert experience performing sterile vaginal exams independently without supervisionEPIC charting system experienceWork Environment / Physical Requirements:Patient care ratios: 1:2Weekend work required every other weekend, may exceed to meet unit needFacility may call off once per two-week pay periodOn-call not requiredPending license not acceptedMust be open to working weekends to meet unit needsRTO (Return to Origin) must be included at time of submissionScrub color for L&D RN: Royal Blue or provided L&D/OR scrubsLocal radius: 50 miles from facilityFree parking availableCharting system: MeditechBlock schedule accommodations available per manager discretionImportant Notes:AWHONN Advanced certification is a mandatory requirement with pass verification required before placement HARD STOPSterile vaginal exams and triage experience are hard stop requirements candidates must be able to perform these independently without supervision DO NOT SCREEN OR PASS without this experienceMust have expert experience and be able to perform sterile vaginal exams independently without supervisionScheduling preferences can be considered but are not guaranteedScheduling requests due to additional employment will not be consideredLocal candidates within 50 miles preferred; contact Account Manager for local rate discussionWill float to mother baby unit as neededAcute care hospital with 320 staffed beds.
