Head of Engineering
OverviewThis position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Head of Engineering in United States. This leadership role offers the opportunity to guide the engineering function of a fast-growing eCommerce-focused organization. You will define technical priorities, lead cross-functional teams, and ensure scalable, high-quality delivery across client projects. The position combines strategic oversight with hands-on operational management, driving both team performance and technical excellence. You will influence engineering roadmaps, champion process improvements, and leverage emerging technologies, including AI, to optimize workflows. The role requires collaboration with design, operations, and project management teams to align engineering execution with business goals. Your leadership will directly impact client satisfaction, delivery consistency, and the growth and development of the engineering team.
Accountabilities
Define and manage engineering priorities in alignment with company objectives, timelines, and business impact
Own and execute the engineering roadmap, ensuring strategic initiatives are delivered efficiently
Lead cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Design, and Project Management for seamless project delivery
Establish and scale development processes, standards, and workflows to enhance team efficiency and consistency
Oversee engineering delivery, ensuring projects meet quality, scope, and timeline expectations
Identify and address bottlenecks to improve performance, reduce rework, and increase predictability
Serve as a senior escalation point for technical challenges across client projects and internal initiatives
Represent engineering in client and sales conversations, communicating technical solutions and trade-offs clearly
Champion adoption of new technologies, including AI, to enhance engineering effectiveness
Lead, mentor, and develop the engineering team to foster growth, performance, and technical excellence
Requirements
8+ years of software engineering experience with significant leadership or management experience
Proven experience leading engineering teams in an agency, eCommerce, or digital product environment
Strong understanding of modern development workflows, project delivery, and scalable systems
Experience with Shopify or similar eCommerce platforms is highly preferred
Demonstrated ability to align engineering execution with business strategy and client needs
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage cross-functional teams and client stakeholders
Experience implementing or leveraging AI tools to improve engineering workflows and operational efficiency
Highly organized, proactive, and solution-oriented, with a focus on continuous improvement
