Criminal Prosecutor
Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Criminal Prosecutor to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in law and a passion for upholding justice. This position offers the opportunity to work on challenging cases and make a meaningful impact in the legal field.
Responsibilities:
- Performs and is responsible for general prosecution of crimes, juvenile delinquency, and status offenses; prosecutes mental health and substance abuse commitment petitions; prosecutes and/or participates in the Tribes’ Wellness Court; and prosecutes and/or participates in other matters as provided by the Tribes’ Code of Laws
- Develops, issues or directs issuance of court documents including, but not limited to, subpoenas, warrants, summons, writs, judgments, decrees, post-trial motions and appeals
- Prepares for court proceedings including but not limited to arraignments, bench, jury, and sentencing trials
- Communicates information and coordinates work on case status with all involved parties such as defense attorneys, U.S. Attorneys, Federal Probation Dept., Tribal Probation Dept., police officials, and victims
- Participates in the drafting of Resolutions and Ordinances and presents written and oral legal information to the MHA Nation Judiciary Committee and Justice Commission, as requested.
- Performs other duties and undertakes responsibilities inherent to the position of a Criminal Prosecutor of the Tribes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION: Must have a Law Degree from an accredited law school and be a member in good standing with a State Bar Association or must be a Licensed Advocate in the Tribal Court.Will consider those that are working toward the minimum qualifications and education.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $55.00 per hour
