Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.A full-time teaching opportunity is available for a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing specializing in middle school education. This position is based in Coden, AL, and offers a contract for the 2026/2027 school year.Key Responsibilities:Deliver specialized instruction to deaf and hard of hearing middle school students in accordance with established curriculum and standardsDevelop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needsCollaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and support staff to foster an inclusive learning environmentUtilize American Sign Language (ASL) proficiency to enhance communication and engagementMonitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordinglyParticipate in ongoing professional development and maintain Alabama DOE certification requirementsQualifications and Experience:Undergraduate degree in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education; Master's degree preferredValid Alabama DOE certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing EducationProficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)Experience working with middle school-aged students and familiarity with related instructional strategiesStrong communication and collaboration skillsLocation:Coden, AlabamaWork Schedule:Full-time position, 35 hours per weekMonday through FridayBenefits:Traditional full-time benefits including medical, dental, vision401(k) retirement planTuition reimbursement opportunitiesThis position offers a competitive hourly rate starting at $50+, based on experience.
