Quality Problem Solving Engineer
Overview
As a Quality Problem Solving Engineer, you drive quality improvements across FXI’s manufacturing network. You rapidly assess issues and choose the right problem-solving approach, from practical containment to structured Red X investigations. You guide cross-functional teams toward sustainable solutions with a Lean mindset, focusing on true root causes. This role involves travel to multiple plant locations and shaping a culture of practical quality improvement.
ResponsibilitiesLead root cause investigations across manufacturing, process, product, and customer quality issues and select appropriate problem-solving methodsDrive corrective and preventive actions including containment, root cause validation, and sustainable implementationsFacilitate structured problem-solving using Red X, 3-Legged 5-Why, and Is/Is Not AnalysisIdentify and reduce process variation with Shainin Red X, BOB/WOW comparisons, and practical experimentsAnalyze trends and systemic issues across facilities to spot recurring problems and risksLead Read Across initiatives to standardize lessons learned and deploy best practicesChampion Lean Quality principles to remove waste and deliver value-driven solutionsCollaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Quality to resolve issuesSupport customer quality management by leading investigations and communicating corrective actionsDevelop organizational capability by coaching plant teams in problem-solving, Lean, and corrective action development
Key requirementsBachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or related technical disciplineMinimum 5 years in manufacturing quality, process engineering, or operationsDemonstrated success leading root cause analysis and corrective action activitiesStrong understanding of manufacturing processes and quality systemsAbility to travel 50-70% to support multiple plant locationsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong communication skillsSelf-driven and logical thinkerCross-functional collaborationShainin Red X methodologiesVariation reduction techniquesLean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement
