Structural Engineer

Job Title: Structural EngineerJob DescriptionAs a Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for calculating loads and selecting structural members based on forces and service demands. You will design structural solutions for industrial, commercial, and institutional projects, with a primary focus on industrial projects. Your work will involve designing shallow and deep foundations, underground concrete vaults and tunnels, and slab reinforcement for a variety of loading conditions. You will also develop unique structural connections to address field interferences.Responsibilities+ Verify field conditions and ensure the constructability of designs.+ Resolve problems during field construction.+ Interpret and design according to various domestic and foreign structural building codes.+ Prepare reports, designs, and drawings.+ Redline drawings for Revit Designers and review updated submittals for accuracy.+ Receive training and mentorship from experienced structural design engineers.+ Interact with clients to understand their needs and requirements.+ Work on projects involving steel, concrete, and masonry industrial buildings, complex cast-in-place concrete foundations/walls, wood-framed commercial and multipurpose complexes, residential buildings, and historical retrofits.Essential Skills+ Experience with structural engineering and design.+ Proficiency in software such as RISA 3D, Bluebeam, Revit, Navisworks, and Microsoft Office Suite.+ Possession of EIT, PE, or SE certification.+ Ability to work well in a team environment.Additional Skills & Qualifications+ Experience with industrial projects is preferred, though candidates with commercial experience will also be considered.+ Effective communication skills with clients and other disciplines.Work EnvironmentThe work environment is business casual, with a standard 40-hour work week. You will have the independence to learn new things while partnering with engineers to solve complex challenges.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Iowa City, IA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $36.00 - $49.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
