Support Specialist II

Botetourt County Sheriff's Office is currently accepting applications for a Support Specialist II.The Support Specialist II serves as a primary point of contact for citizens, providing high-quality customer service both over the phone and in person. This multifaceted role supports the efficiency of the department by assisting the HR/Finance Manager with data entry, transcribing official recordings, and providing administrative and logistical support for community outreach programs. Botetourt County is an Equal Opportunity Employer.Minimum QualificationsMust be 18 years of age or older.High School graduate/GEDNo criminal record.Valid Virginia driver's license with good driving record.Good credit history.Citizen of the United States or have valid proof that citizenship is being sought.Must be qualified to become Virginia Notary Public after hire.2+ years of experience in customer service or administrative rolePrimary DutiesAssist citizens visiting the office as neededManage incoming calls on multi-line phone, direct inquiries to the appropriate department or personnelPick-up, sort and distribute mail dailyEnsure proper postage on outgoing mail and deliver to post office dailyDeliver daily deposits as neededOrder office supplies for departments as neededTranscribe sensitive audio/video recordings of interviews or statements into clear, accurate written format.Perform Notary duties as needed for Jail and Sheriff's OfficeAssists with Senior Focus and Senior Connect program as needed on and off-siteAssists with Community Outreach program as needed on and off-siteCreate and post select overtime signup sheets for deputiesData entry for invoices for accounts payableOrganize and scan receipts from purchasing cards into bank systemAssist with payroll time entry for monthly payrollAssist with filing and record retentionData entry of firearm permits into records management systemUpload and maintenance of e-summons into records management systemPerforms other related duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMust have excellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to switch between various tasks seamlesslyFast and accurate typing skillsMust have proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office 365 Suite, including Microsoft Teams, and digital file managementStrong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in order to meet strict deadlinesMaintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive records and information in accordance with privacy laws and internal policiesMust interact and communicate in a courteous, knowledgeable manner and, when possible, advise the public and act appropriately in stressful situationsMust be able to communicate with other members of the law enforcement community effectivelyMust also be able to successfully complete mandated and/or elective training offered relating to the positionBenefitsHealth, vision, and dental insurance at minimal cost to employee.
