Forward Deployed Engineer

This job is posted for Earth Finance via Parallel Earth Finance is hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer to contribute to our SpatiaFi Deploy engagements and help our customers build success on top of our platform. You are a full-stack engineer who works directly with our customers. You'll sit with them and our Strategic Advisors to help understand the problem, turn what they need into a technical design, and then build it yourself on top of the SpatiaFi platform. This isn't a role for someone who only wants to code from a ticket. You'll explain trade-offs to a CTO in the morning, walk an operations manager through a prototype in the afternoon, and ship production code in between. You'll usually be working on 2–3 engagements at once. As a member of the Technology team, you will work closely with the core platform engineers to help build and deliver new customer capabilities, including: Work with customers Help run discovery sessions with customers to understand their goals, data, constraints and how they'll measure success. Communicate clearly with every level: CTOs and technical leads, managers, and non-technical users. Explain technical choices and trade-offs in plain language, in writing and in person. Be the trusted technical contact on your engagements, and flag risks or scope changes early. Support pre-sales with demos, solution outlines and effort estimates. Turn requirements into designs Translate business requirements into clear technical designs: architecture, data flows, APIs and user experience. Decide what to reuse from the SpatiaFi platform and what to build custom. Write short, readable design docs that both the customer and our engineers can follow. Work with our advisory and science teams, who bring domain expertise and help shape requirements. Build and ship Build full-stack applications on SpatiaFi: Go services (gRPC), React and TypeScript frontends, PostgreSQL, and integrations with customer systems and data. Work with geospatial data and build map-based visualizations that make it easy to understand. Package and ship your work in Docker containers. Deploy to Google Cloud, other cloud providers, or customer-managed and on-premise environments, depending on the engagement. Use AI coding agents to move fast, while holding to our engineering standards on testing, review and security. Follow our security and compliance practices in every engagement, including handling customer data safely. Build new AI agents on top of our agentic platform in Google Cloud. Juggle multiple engagements Switch between engagements cleanly, with good notes, clear priorities and honest status updates. Manage your own time and commitments across customers without dropping balls. Hand over cleanly: documentation, runbooks and training so customers and our team can run what you built. Make the platform better Spot patterns across engagements and feed them back to the product team. Turn one-off custom work into reusable components where it makes sense. What you'll bring 5+ years as a full-stack engineer in React, Go with Python knowledge as well Solid understanding of geospatial data (coordinate systems, vector and raster data) and experience building geospatial visualizations. Hands-on Docker and PostgreSQL.A track record of working directly with customers or business stakeholders, not only internal teams. Ability to explain technical ideas simply to people at any level, including senior executives and non-technical users. Experience turning loose business requirements into a working design and then building it. Comfort working on several projects at once and switching context without losing quality. Practical experience using AI coding tools to deliver quality code. Good judgement on when to push back on scope and when to just get it done. Willing to travel up to 50% of the time.
