We’re hiring engineers, operators, and builders who want to move fast, take on extreme ownership, and get capability into the hands of warfighters in months, not years.What You Will Be DoingWe are seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer to design and maintain the cloud and on-premise infrastructure supporting advanced defense technology systems. This role owns IT operations — automation, virtualization, data platform, and disaster recovery — and partners closely with our Security function on SIEM, NIST 800-171 compliance, and incident response. The ideal candidate has expertise in Microsoft 365 / Azure / AWS architecture, deep PowerShell automation chops, and is excited about building infrastructure at a fast-moving defense tech company.ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement secure cloud infrastructure using Microsoft 365, Azure, and AWS to support defense technology platforms and mission-critical operationsPartner with the Security Lead on SIEM operations, NIST 800-171 compliance evidence, and security tooling integration — implementing the IT-side controls and log/data pipelines that Security relies onImplement and maintain monitoring and alerting solutions to ensure system health, visibility, and rapid response to outages and performance issuesManage system patching and updates using endpoint and infrastructure management tools, ensuring systems remain secure and up to dateProactively monitor infrastructure and services, responding to alerts and performance degradation to maintain high availability and reliabilityProvide advanced L3/L4 technical support for bare metal servers, Linux environments, and mission-critical infrastructureAdminister and support SQL Server environments, including performance tuning, maintenance plans, and access managementDevelop and maintain automated backup solutions, including incremental snapshots and retention policies across cloud and on-premise systemsArchitect and support disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity strategies, including failover planning, backup validation, and recovery testingAdminister and support virtualization platforms (Hyper-V, VMware), including clustering, replication, and high availability configurationsPlan and execute virtualization migrations and infrastructure upgrades with minimal downtimeIdentify and prioritize automation opportunities based on operational pain points and system inefficiencies You should have the followingExperience at a defense technology startup or fast-paced, high-growth technology companyHands-on SIEM implementation or tuning experience (Splunk, Sentinel, etc.) — a strong plus given the partnership model with SecurityDirect experience preparing for or operating under NIST 800-171, CMMC, or similar defense compliance frameworksKnowledge of Kubernetes, Docker containerization, and infrastructure as code tools like TerraformFamiliarity with segmented network architectures and hybrid on-premise/cloud environmentsUS Salary Range$105,500-$148,000 USDThe salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
