Your success story starts here...ABOUT THE TEAM & RoleWe are building a new physical biofuels and biofuel credits trading desk in North America and are looking for an experienced physical fuels sales/trader to be a foundational member of the team. You will join a high-impact group alongside a fuels credits trader, a strong biofuels trading team in Amsterdam and a sales/trader. You’ll be joining at an early stage of team expansion in North America within a globally mature setup: STX has a strong biofuels desk in Amsterdam and recently acquired feedstock trading firm MarineOlie.You will be responsible for originating, structuring, and executing physical biofuels transactions across the full value chain — from feedstock procurement through finished product sales — while coordinating the logistics required to move product efficiently and profitably.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESOriginate, negotiate, and execute physical trades across biofuels and feedstocks (e.g., renewable diesel, biodiesel, UCO, animal fats, distillers corn oil), with a strong focus on developing and securing feedstock supply, while owning a portfolio with full P&L responsibility, including price, basis, and counterparty riskDevelop and apply trade models to capture feedstock-to-fuel economics, blending dynamics, and arbitrage opportunities, translating market insights into actionable trading and structuring strategiesIdentify and drive new business opportunities by building and expanding relationships with producers, refiners, aggregators, blenders, infrastructure partners, and end-users across North AmericaStructure and execute end-to-end transactions, including negotiation of commercial terms, while leveraging logistics (rail, truck, barge, vessel), storage, and timing to optimize trade economics in coordination with operations and back-office teamsIncorporate Carbon Intensity (CI), regulatory developments, and market dynamics into pricing, risk management, and value optimization across trades and portfoliosCollaborate with strategy and environmental markets teams to unlock integrated physical and credit opportunities, while actively representing STX in the market to build presence, relationships, and deal flowKEY REQUIREMENTSBachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field4–8 years of experience in physical biofuels, renewable fuels, or adjacent commodity trading environments (e.g., oil & gas, chemicals, or agricultural commodities)Proven track record of originating and executing physical supply and offtake agreements, with strong commercial, negotiation, and stakeholder management skillsSolid understanding of biofuels markets, including feedstocks, production pathways, and North American logistics infrastructure, with a focus on rail transportExperience with financial modeling and trade economics (e.g., P&L modeling, arbitrage analysis, pricing structures), as well as familiarity with carbon intensity (CI), lifecycle analysis, and the interaction between physical markets and environmental credit programsEntrepreneurial mindset with strong interpersonal and communication skills, a passion for building new business, and the ability to establish trust and lasting relationships with a broad range of market participantsBased or willing to relocate to New York or Houston, United States.COMPENSATION AND BENEFITSSTX intends on offering the selected candidate a competitive base salary withing the range of $135.000 USD – $180.000 based on several objective factors such as relevant experience, location, holistic skillset, and applicable licenses and certifications.
