Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.QualificationsEducation/Certification: Bachelor's Degree from accredited university, Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements, ESL Certification required within twelve months for K-5 General Education, 6-12 ELAR, and SPED ACL Teachers.Knowledge of subjects assigned, general knowledge of curriculum and instruction.Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.At least one year of student teaching or approved internship.Major Responsibilities and DutiesUse strategies and activities that result in increased student performance in content area and on standardized assessments and meet campus performance objectives addressing each Academic Excellence Indicator.Develop and implement plans for the curriculum program assigned and provide written evidence of preparation to meet students' needs.Prepare lessons that accommodate individual student differences.Present subject matter according to guidelines from Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment reflecting individual needs.Communicate and promote expectations for high level performance, recognizing excellence in achievement.Develop instructional activities incorporating appropriate student learning styles.Cooperate with special education teachers to modify curricula for special education students per IEP guidelines.Attend ARD meetings and discuss students' strengths, weaknesses, and abilities.Communicate and interact with students, parents, staff, and community positively.Cooperate with staff to plan and implement instructional goals per district requirements.Plan and supervise assignments for instructional assistants or volunteers.Use technology in teaching and learning, present content to the class.Assist students in analyzing and improving study methods.Consistently assess achievement through formal and informal testing, provide progress/interim reports.Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.Serve as a positive role model supporting the district mission.Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students' development.Manage behavior and administer discipline per board policies and IEP proactive plan.Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, facilities.Assist in selecting books, equipment, and instructional materials as requested.Maintain open communication lines with students and parents.Schedule and conduct parent conferences for struggling students.Maintain professional relationships with colleagues and community.Use acceptable communication skills to present information accurately.Participate in campus and district staff development.Maintain professional competence through workshops, seminars, conferences, advanced courses.Demonstrate interest in professional improvement, ethical behavior, compliance with regulations.Compile, maintain, file reports, records, documents required.Maintain accurate attendance records, identify chronic attendance problems.Follow district and campus policies on homework and grading.Attend faculty, department, and committee meetings as required.Report to work at designated site on a regular daily basis.Perform other duties assigned by Principal or Assistant Principal.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesSupervise assigned instructional assistants, aides, classroom volunteers, and assist in supervising student teachers.Working ConditionsMental Demands: Ability to communicate (verbal & written), instruct, interpret policy, maintain emotional control under stress.Physical Demands: Work inside/outside, prolonged standing/walking, lifting/carrying, in-district travel, occasional out-of-district travel.These statements describe the general purpose and responsibilities assigned and are not exhaustive.Position Type: Full-TimeSalary: $55,000 Per YearJob Categories: Classroom Teacher > English & Language Arts; Classroom Teacher > Math: GeneralJ-18808-Ljbffr
