Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP),Lead TeacherFull-Time, Non-union, at-will positionPosition Summary:The Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) Teacher is responsible for all aspects of planning,assessing, and instructing 4-year olds, based on needs of each child, and the requirements ofthe GSRP grant. The teacher is also responsible for maintain program quality anddocumentation as outlines in the GSRP implementation Manual, Preschool Program QualityAssessment (PQA), and DHS licensing guidelines.Required Qualifications:Valid Michigan certificate with early childhood (ZA or ZS) endorsement or Bachelor's degree inearly childhood.Preferred Qualifications:Teaching experience with early childhood/ preschool children, particularly with as-riskchildren.Training and experience with research-based preschool curricula with knowledge ofearly childhood standards of Quality for Pre-K (ECSQ-PK).Certification in CPR and First AidKnowledge of current research on early childhood literacyKnowledge of the preschool program Quality Assessment (PQA) and its relationship toquality experiences for young children.Skill in providing effective learning experiences that foster academic growth in adevelopmentally appropriate manner.Work well with diverse families and engage parents as full partners in their child'slearningAbility to act as a resource person for familiesStrong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students,parents, and teachersMonitor the development of each child's skill using the COR assessment tool.Responsibilities:Implement developmentally-appropriate instruction for children using research basedcurriculumFollow the daily schedule as outlines in the curriculum and GSRP guidelinesConduct screening and ongoing assessment of children and provide age-appropriateinstructional supportMeet with Early childhood specialist as needed to ensure quality programming andmaintain a high-level PQA ratingAttend staff meetings, workshops, and other scheduled program activities as requestedConsider the associate teacher an essential member of the teaching teamCollaborate with the associate teacher in planning, team meetings, troubleshooting, anddecision makingEmpower the associate teacher to monitor behavior and support the educationalprocess in the classroomParticipate in home visits with associate teacher to partner with parents to meet theeducational needs of their childrenOrganize and maintain records for grant and licensing purposesCreate and update anecdotal records for grant and licensing purposesComplete required progress reports and other paperworkParticipate in district recruitment efforts, including open houses and round ups, andassist in student selectionMaintain inventory of classroom equipment, materials, and suppliesSchedule parent/family activitiesDevelop newsletters and informational materials for familiesAble to work Flexible hours as needed for family involvement activities, including homesvisits, recruitment events, open house.Perform other duties as assignedPhysical Requirements:Employee must be capable of performing physical demands of the job, including but not limitedto lifting, bending, stopping, squatting, and standing for long periods of time.
