Founded in Atlanta in 2019, the organization began as a poetry open mic created to raise awareness about poverty and homelessness. Since then, Urban Poets has evolved into a multidisciplinary arts and youth development nonprofit that operates at the intersection of art, access, and advocacy. Our purpose is to use arts education, creative workforce development, and culturally rooted programming to strengthen communities—particularly in historically underinvested neighborhoods of Fulton County. We believe art is a catalyst for connection, healing, academic achievement, and economic mobility.Program Brief Overview The Urban Art Collab is an annual program that offers participants the opportunity to engage with art, culture, and history; develop workplace and team-building skills; and learn about a range of professional options and career paths. We encourage students to use their creativity and teamwork skills to create a musical recording that promotes positive social change. Urban Poets will invite high school students to our 10-day summer camp. We ask each student to select a course then we pair the students into groups. The groups will consist of a writer, a music producer, and an audio engineer. At the end of the program, students are asked to perform their musical creation, and we invite our SMEs to help evaluate their projects. We also invite the students' friends and family to our closing ceremony so they can see their performances.Job Description We are seeking an experienced Audio Engineer Instructor that will help drive our Youth Development Outcomes through positive staff practices that create a high-quality experience rooted in Fun, Recognition, Sense of Belonging, Physical Safety, Emotional Safety, High Expectations & Opportunities, and Supportive Relationships. The Audio Engineering Instructor is responsible to assist, support, and help develop the art program to ensure it is aligned with the vision and focus of the organization’s goals. The position supports the audio engineering workshop curriculum for grades 9th - 12th and assists with all special projects and supportive functions related. Must have experience in Pro Tools, Logic, and audio technology for studio and live applications as your primary focus is instructing this to the next generation of audio engineering professionals.Major Duties:Creates an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.Provide instruction that encourages youth to explore, understand, appreciate and apply creativity.Meets regularly with the Program Director Instructing Pro Tools, Logic, and a variety of software plug-insTeaching practical hands-on methods for using mixing consoles, patch bays, microphones, wireless systems, and outboard gearFocus on student creativity to achieve high-quality results with class audio projectsInspire and support students as they progress through our audio programContribute to the fine-tuning of the curriculum with the rest of the education teamModels appropriate academic and social behaviorsPerforms other duties as assignedRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to work with students of diverse ethnic backgrounds, academic profiles, and skill levels.Possess good interpersonal and organizational skills.Studio and/or live production experience with mixing consoles, microphones, and patch bays.Strong understanding of a variety of audio production types: studio recording/mixing (multiple genres), live music, corporate A/V, and commercial installation.Passionate about inspiring, mentoring, and helping others learn.Must be able to prepare students of a variety of experience levels.Minimum Position Requirement:Content Knowledge Evidence - Associate's degree or higher from a regionally accredited college/university in the teaching field or closely related field.Possesses experience with Pro-Tools and Analog consolesAt least 3 years of work experience in the field.*Selected candidates will also be required to complete a satisfactory background check*Location: Space323 Studio, 323 Walker St. SW 2nd Fl Atlanta Ga. 30313Dates of Program: 1st Week: 06/08/26 - 06/12/26 (Monday - Friday)2nd Week: 06/15/26 - 06/19/26 (Monday - Friday)Staff Hours:12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.Pay rate: $24 per hourTotal Salary: $1200.00 (50 hours)
