Lake Forest Community High School is seeking an Co-Athletic Director for the 2026-2027 school year who will transition to the Athletic Director role on July 1, 2027. This one-year of transition and mentorship, due to an upcoming retirement, will ensure the continued stability and excellence of the LFHS athletic program.Description : The Co-Athletic Director is a member of the leadership team who assists the Athletic Director with all facets of the interscholastic and intramural athletic programs and personnel.Salary:The district provides salary commensurate with experience. The starting annual salary range is $175,000-$200,000.Work Year:12 Month/261 Days (July 1, 2026 - June 30, 2027) this position requires a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours for the supervision of athletic contests and department events.Benefits:

Education, Experience, and Licensure (required and preferred):Current Professional Educator License (PEL) and General Administrative endorsement (required)
Teaching experience at the middle, and/or high school level (preferred)
Coaching experience at the middle, and/or high school level (preferred)
Building administrative experience at the high school level (preferred)
IHSA certifications annually (PES, AED/CPR, Hate Speech, Concussion)
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficient use of Google Workspace
Strong decision-making skills
Ability to meet deadlines
Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and organizational skills
Essential Functions:Administrative & Compliance LeadershipIHSA Compliance : Ensure all athletic programs, coaches, and student-athletes adhere to the bylaws and policies of theIllinois High School Association (IHSA),including eligibility, transfer rules, and season start/end dates.
Title IX Oversight:Monitor and ensure gender equity in athletic offerings, facilities, and resource allocation in accordance with federal and state laws.
Policy Development : Formulate and maintain an Athletic Handbook for students, parents, and coaches that aligns with School Board policies.
Personnel ManagementStaff Recruitment:Lead the search, interview, and recommendation process for all head and assistant coaching positions.
Evaluation:Conduct regular performance evaluations for coaching staff, providing constructive feedback and professional development plans.
Certification Tracking:Verify that all coaches maintain up-to-date certification, including CPR/AED, Concussion Management, and the IHSA PES (Performance-Enhancing Substance) training.
Operations & LogisticsScheduling:Coordinate and confirm all interscholastic competition schedules, including non-conference games and tournament entries.
Transportation:Arrange for safe and timely student-athlete transportation to away contests and off-site practices.
Facility Management:Oversee the preparation and maintenance of all athletic venues (gymnasiums, stadiums, and fields) and coordinate their use by internal teams and external community groups.
Financial OversightBudgeting:Develop, monitor, and manage the annual athletic department budget, including the purchase of uniforms, equipment, and supplies.
Fundraising & Revenue:Supervise gate receipts for home events and collaborate with the Booster Clubs to ensure all fundraising activities comply with district financial protocols.
Communication & Community RelationsAdvocacy:Act as the primary spokesperson for the athletic department at Board of Education meetings and community events.
Mediation:Serve as the first point of contact for resolving conflicts between parents, coaches, and student-athletes.
Publicity:Manage the athletic department's digital presence, ensuring schedules, scores, and department news are updated on the school website and social media channels.Physical Demands & Work Environment:Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk or hear, and taste or smell. The employee is frequently required to use hands to handle or feel materials. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus .Work EnvironmentIn the work environment, the employee is regularly exposed to video display and regularly works in office environmental conditions. The employee regularly works in the evenings or on weekends. The employee frequently works with the use of a personal vehicle. The employee will have contact with employees and the public which requires appropriate demeanor and apparel.
