NEEDED: PHYSICIAN - TravelerLOCATION: 1640 Sky View Drive, Bruceton Mills, WV 26525SCHEDULE:Monday – Friday, 8 hours per day between 6:00 AM – 6:00 PMQUALIFICATIONS:Serious applicants must provide a resume and any requested documentation, along with copy of all diplomas and/or certificates to support their stated qualifications.Three or more years of experience in emergency care, acute care, ambulatory/outpatient care, psychiatric care, and/or medical/surgical careExperience in providing healthcare in a correctional settingCardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red CrossOne year of supervi9sed experience providing physician services in emergency care, acute care, ambulatory/outpatient care, psychiatric care, and/or medical/surgical careAdditional professional education and certifications such as advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), International Trauma Life Support (ITLS), etc.Must hold a Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.Possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training. For purposes of this standard, graduate training programs include only those internship, residency, and fellowship programs that are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or Canada.Maintain status as a licensed physician, including completion of all requirements for Continuing Medical Education (CME) and re-certification.JOB DUTIES: Provide physician services which include, but are not limited to:Comprehensive assessments and management of both acute and chronic health problems of inmatesAssisting and working collaboratively with the staff physician(s) and other medical providers in management of complex medical problemsPerforming initial comprehensive medical and psychosocial screeningsPerforming physical examinations and risk evaluations of inmatesPerforming basic dental examinations and detecting abnormalities of the teeth and gumsPerforming mental health evaluations including the ability to screen for suicidal riskConducting daily sick callObtaining intravenous access for administration of intravenous fluids and/or medicationsProviding a wide range of emergency services, including primary care for trauma and life-saving proceduresPerforming minor surgical procedures, such as incision and drainage, suturing of lacerations, removal of cysts, and removal/repair of ingrown toenailsPrescribing medications and treatment for illnesses and administration of medications establishing diagnostic impressions and requesting appropriate diagnostic tests (e.g., laboratory, x-ray, visual acuity, electrocardiogram, etc.)Interpreting results and selected laboratory findings including, but not limited to, urinalysis, complete blood counts, metabolic panels, and various cultures for bacterial infection and antibiotic susceptibilityOrdering and/or interpretating audiologic testing and screening of distance and near vision as well as colorblindnessProviding preliminarily interpretation of radiographs, including dental radiographs, to identify gross abnormalities such as fractures, displacements, etc.Interpretating electrocardiogram tracings and having the ability to detect cardiac abnormalitiesFunctioning as a member of a primary care team in collaboration with other disciplines and providersEntering pertinent clinical information in an electronic medical record system in a timely manner and following proper documentation procedures
