Structure: Contract-to-Hire

About the Role:
Brooksource is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to help drive the evolution of a data-driven and insights-focused organization. This role will provide technical leadership within an Enterprise Data & Analytics team responsible for building scalable data platforms, modernizing data architecture, and enabling business users through self-service analytics and automation. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in data engineering, cloud architecture, and modern data platform technologies. This individual will help design, build, and operationalize next-generation data solutions while establishing engineering standards, mentoring team members, and partnering closely with business stakeholders to deliver impactful data products. What You'll Do:
Design, build, and operationalize enterprise-scale data engineering solutions and analytics platforms.
Architect and implement ETL, ELT, and streaming data ingestion pipelines across diverse data sources.
Build and maintain cloud-based data lakes and data warehouses.
Establish monitoring, alerting, and data quality frameworks across the data ecosystem.
Improve ingestion architecture with a focus on scalability, maintainability, performance, and reliability.
Define and implement engineering best practices including code reviews, testing, CI/CD automation, version control, and deployment standards.
Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements and align data solutions with organizational goals.
Support the development of self-service analytics capabilities that empower end users and improve decision-making.
Integrate and transform data from disparate systems to create trusted and accessible datasets for analytics and reporting.
Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across data engineering initiatives.
What You'll Bring:
8+ years of experience in Data Engineering, with leadership or senior-level responsibilities preferred.
Strong expertise in:
- Data Architecture and solution design
- Data modeling and data warehousing conceptsETL/ELT development and optimization
- Data transformation and standardization
- Monitoring, observability, and error handling
- Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) best practices
- Code reviews and quality assurance methodologies
Strong experience with AWS services, including: S3, EC2, EMR, EKS, Glue, Lambda, AppFlow, CloudWatchExperience with Snowflake, including Account administration, Virtual warehouse optimization, Data sharing, Time Travel, Zero-Copy Cloning, and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC).Strong experience with dbt, including: dbt Cloud administration, multi-repository project management, Model development, Macro creation and maintenance
Advanced SQL skills.
Strong Python development experience.
Experience with data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
Experience with incremental and Change Data Capture (CDC) ingestion methodologies.
Experience integrating data through REST APIs.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams.
Experience gathering requirements and translating them into scalable technical solutions.
Proven ability to mentor team members and establish engineering standards.
Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and implement new technologies.
Strong problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
Passion for helping organizations become more data driven.
Preferred Qualifications:
AWS Certification.
Experience with orchestration and scheduling tools such as Airflow or Prefect.
Experience with Qlik Replicate.
Experience supporting modern analytics and business intelligence environments.
