Senior Java Software Engineer

We’re hiring a Senior Java Backend Engineer to join an AI Centre of Excellence and help build a greenfield, AI-native data product.What we’re looking for8+ years of production Java/Spring Boot experienceJava 21+, Spring Boot 3+, Hibernate/JPAStrong PostgreSQL and REST API experienceOAuth 2.1/OIDC/JWT and production security experienceStrong Git, PR and code review practicesHands-on daily experience with GitHub Copilot agent mode, Coding Agent or similar agentic development workflowsExperience auditing and governing AI-generated codeNice to have:Spring Modulith, Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, Azure and Databricks experience.A GitHub profile or working portfolio demonstrating your engineering and AI tooling experience.Key Responsibilities Own the architecture and delivery of Java/Spring Boot backend services and REST APIsDesign and evolve the PostgreSQL data layer, including schemas, indexing, transactions and migrationsOwn API contracts, security, performance and scalabilityUse AI tools and agentic workflows to accelerate development while maintaining engineering qualityReview and harden AI-generated code, identifying security, architectural and performance risksDrive code quality through PRs, code reviews, automated testing and CI/CD quality gatesOwn backend integration with Databricks and data contractsMaintain architecture decisions, API contracts, data models and production documentationWhat’s in it for you?Work in an AI-native engineering environment with GitHub Copilot Enterprise and agent mode from day oneBuild a greenfield platform from first principles, without inherited technical debtWork on technology supporting a global operation across 70+ countriesHelp define AI-native engineering patterns that can scale across the wider organisationOwn meaningful architectural decisions and directly influence how engineering is delivered
