This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys balancing hands-on accounting responsibilities with operational leadership in a collaborative, purpose-driven environment.Position OverviewReporting to senior finance leadership, the Accounting Manager will oversee daily accounting functions across multiple entities, including operational accounting, close processes, reporting support, and internal controls. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, systems-savvy, and comfortable operating in a dynamic environment with both nonprofit and investment-related activities.This position includes supervisory responsibilities and significant cross-functional collaboration.Key Responsibilities:Management & AccountingManage daily accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash transactions, and expense management Review invoices, reimbursements, payment activity, and funding disbursements Supervise and mentor accounting support staff while ensuring accountability and workflow efficiency Maintain compliance with established accounting procedures and internal controls Partner with finance leadership to improve operational effectiveness across multiple business entities Financial Close & ReportingLead monthly and year-end close activities, including reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, and balance sheet analysis Prepare financial reporting packages and assist with consolidated reporting and intercompany activity Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation records Investigate and resolve discrepancies while continuously improving accounting accuracy and timeliness Non-profit Related TransactionsSupport accounting activities tied to grants, loans, and mission-driven investment initiatives Track and reconcile funding activity and related financial documentation Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting and operational alignment Assist with investment-related administrative and accounting processes Everything else:Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for external audits Assist with tax-related reporting processes in partnership with outside providers Support ongoing compliance efforts, accounting policies, and documentation standards Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and strengthen accounting operations Serve as a key user for ERP and financial systems Help improve reporting capabilities, controls, and scalability within the finance function Qualifications:Required Experience & SkillsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience) 5+ years of progressive accounting experience Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and operational accounting practices Experience managing close processes, reconciliations, AP/AR, and financial reporting Advanced Excel skills, including pivots and lookups Experience working within ERP/accounting systems Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities Preferred BackgroundExperience in nonprofit, foundation, or multi-entity environments Exposure to investment accounting or grant-related accounting activity Prior leadership or supervisory experience Public accounting background is a plus Audit support experience preferred Familiarity with systems such as NetSuite, Salesforce, and expense management platforms is beneficial Additional DetailsFull-time, exempt position Hybrid/in-office environment in the Denver metro area Comprehensive benefits offered - parking covered 100%, unlimited PTO, 401k 7.5% match and health benefits completely coveredThis search is being conducted on a confidential basis.
