Educational Interpreter - Metairie, Louisiana

Providing specialized communication support in educational settings, this role calls for experienced Sign Language Interpreters to serve student populations in the New Orleans, LA area. Situated in Metairie, LA, this contract position supports full-time interpretation services within Jefferson Parish schools, facilitating effective communication and inclusion for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students from various age groups.Key Responsibilities:Deliver clear and accurate sign language interpretation during classroom instruction and school activities.Collaborate with teachers, staff, and students to ensure accessibility and effective communication.Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in compliance with school policies and DOE requirements.Complete necessary documentation and participate in relevant meetings as assigned.Adhere to the school calendar, providing services Monday through Friday around 7 hours a day, plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch.Qualifications and Requirements:Active Louisiana Department of Education certification as a Sign Language Interpreter.Completion of required drug screening and fingerprinting as per district and credentialing standards.Proven experience as an SLI/ASL Interpreter; varying levels of experience are welcomed.Ability to work full-time (35 hours per week) following the school calendar.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Flexibility for assignment to multiple schools (to be determined).Benefits and Perks:Contract position with a clear term through May 22, 2026.Competitive pay scale based on experience: • $33-$36 per hour for 0-2 years experience • $36-$39 per hour for 3-5 years experience • $39-$42 per hour for 6-9 years experience • $42-$45 per hour for 10+ years experienceOpportunity for interview scheduling within 24 hours and prompt hiring decisions.
