Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
Job purpose
Assist nursing personnel in provision of basic care for residents and necessary unit tasks. Functions in compliance with Sienna Extended Care and Rehab policies and procedures, applicable health care standards and the Oklahoma State Department of Health. The Certified Nursing Assistant functions as a member of the health care team under the direction of the RN or LPN and reports to the DON, ADON or Nursing Supervisor in conformity with the company and regulatory policies.
Duties and responsibilities

The Certified Nursing Assistant provides direct and indirect resident care activities under the direction of a licensed nurse.
Assists patients in the following areas:
Personal care functions including:
Bathing (bed, tub, shower or sponge bath)
Skin Care
Toileting (bedpan, urinal, commode and/or toilet)
Grooming (shampoo, nail care & shaving)
Oral Hygiene (denture care)
Assist with dressing and undressing Assists with feeding of residents.
Measuring and recording intake and output.
Weigh residents using upright, chair and bed scale.
Assists in turning and positioning of residents.
Proper transfer techniques.
Demonstrates appropriate knowledge for safe use of medical equipment (cane, crutches, walkers, Hoyer Lift, side rails, brace, splints, oxygen)
Helps keep residents’ rooms clean and supplied.
Make and change beds (unoccupied and occupied)
Transports residents and patients, supplies and equipment as needed.
Assists nurses and other personnel as needed.
Ambulate residents and patients who require minimal assistance.
Simple, non‐sterile dressings.
Perform skin assessment and notify RN of any abnormalities in skin integrity.
Applies heat or cold compresses as directed by a RN.
Answer call lights and takes appropriate action.
Collects and labels specimens (urine, stool, sputum).
Measures and records vital signs/weights and reports variations in vital signs to the nurse.
Immediately reports any changes in patient or resident’s condition or incidents to the Nursing Supervisor on duty.
Participates in case conferences with other members of the healthcare team as appropriate
Maintains confidentiality in relation to all clients, healthcare staff and documentation.
Abides by all HIPPA compliance regulations
Meets annual in-service requirements in accordance with company policy and state regulations.
Maintains and enhances skill through attending appropriate staff development training.
Appearance must be neat and clean and comply with all facility dress code policy
Maintains a cooperative manner towards patient/resident family and all members of the healthcare team.
Comply with the Facility’s personnel, safety and corporate policies and procedures.
Comply with the nursing department’s policies and procedures.
Report witnessed or reported allegations of resident abuse/neglect immediately to the Administrator, DON or Unit Manager.
Treat residents, family members, visitors and team members with dignity and respect.
Maintain the confidentiality of all resident and family members.
Must develop and maintain a good working relationship with co-workers and other departments.
Report to work on time and as scheduled.
Assist in admission and discharge of resident.
Assist residents in bathing functions (bed bath, tub, or shower).
Assist residents in ear, eye, facial, hair, and nail care.
Keep resident’s dry – changing clothing and linen when it becomes soiled or wet.
Assist residents in bowel and bladder functions.
Assist residents in preparing for activity and social programs.
Assist in transporting residents to/from appointments, activity, and social programs.
Assist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc.
Assist residents in ambulation and mobility.
Proper use of gait belts when assisting residents.
Perform and document resident temperature, pulse, respirations (TPR), weight, and height measurements.
Answer resident call lights promptly.
Report and, when appropriate, document, any change observed in a resident’s condition or behavior to the Charge Nurse.
Prepare residents for meals, serve and remove trays, and assist in feeding as required.
Distribute drinking water, other fluids and nourishments to residents.
Assist in the care of dying residents.
Provide post-mortem care.
Check assigned residents routinely to ensure personal care needs are being met.
Organize and straighten resident rooms daily.
Bag soiled linens in appropriate bags, linen bins and trash cans.
Complete required documentation of care and services as they are provided.
Give report to on coming shift per facility policy.
Must have basic computer skills.
If required to operate a motor vehicle for business purposes, must successfully complete the requirements contained in Company’s Motor Vehicles policy.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
Must be able to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
Qualifications
Candidate must have current and valid State of Oklahoma certification for Nursing Assistants.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be compassionate, mature, sympathetic and professional at all times.
Must possess good organization and communication skills.
Must have the ability to read, write, understand and carry out directions.
Candidate will have the physical ability to perform job-related duties, which may require lifting, standing, bending, transferring, stooping, stretching, walking, pushing and pulling.
Must be dependable and report to work on time and complete shifts as assigned.
Six consecutive months of CNA experience post certification in a long term care facility is preferred.

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
