This role performs sonographic examinations in accordance with physician orders, professional standards, and regulatory requirements to support accurate diagnosis and patient care.The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical expertise, sound clinical judgment, and a compassionate, patient-centered approach.Key ResponsibilitiesSonographic Examinations & ImagingPrepare for examinations by reviewing physician orders, patient schedules, and prior imagingProgram and adjust ultrasound equipment to obtain optimal diagnostic imagesPerform sonographic exams in areas including abdomen, small parts, OB/GYN, and vascularUse independent judgment to differentiate normal from pathological findingsSelect and capture appropriate images for physician interpretationPatient Care & SafetyExplain procedures to patients, answer questions, and provide reassuranceEnsure patient comfort, safety, and privacy throughout the examAssume responsibility for patient well-being in the sonography areaPerform IV insertion for contrast studies when requiredDocumentation & SystemsAccurately enter patient data, exam details, and charges into the electronic health recordMaintain accurate documentation in accordance with clinic and regulatory standardsAssist with prior authorizations and patient scheduling as neededEquipment, Quality & Professional DevelopmentInspect, maintain, and troubleshoot sonographic equipmentMaintain inventory of supplies and replenish as necessaryKeep knowledge current through continuing education, professional organizations, and trainingParticipate in quality improvement initiatives and department meetingsCollaborationWork collaboratively with radiologists, providers, nurses, and clinic staffCommunicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including vendorsQualificationsEducation & CertificationAssociate's Degree in Applied Science (required)Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program or related fieldRDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) certification or equivalent (required)BLS certification from the American Heart Association (required)ExperienceMinimum of three (3) years of experience in abdominal, small parts, OB/GYN, and vascular sonographyRVT (Registered Vascular Technologist) credential preferred; training support available if neededSkills & CompetenciesStrong technical proficiency with diagnostic ultrasound equipmentAbility to apply independent clinical judgment to obtain optimal diagnostic informationExcellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skillsKnowledge of safety, infection control, and patient care protocolsStrong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environmentPhysical, sensory, and cognitive abilities sufficient to perform essential job functionsWork Environment & Physical RequirementsHeavy physical work requiring frequent lifting and repositioning (up to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 100 pounds)Prolonged standing, walking, bending, and use of upper extremitiesAbility to work 8- or 12-hour shiftsPossible exposure to radiation, contaminated needles, and infectious body substancesIndoor and outdoor work environments with varied temperatures, noise levels, and conditionsEqual Opportunity EmployerHoskinson Health & Wellness Clinic is an affirmative action and equal opportunity employer.
