Cable Technician

A Coaxial Cable Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing coaxial cables used in telecommunications, such as those for cable television, internet, and phone services. This role involves working in residential, commercial, and sometimes industrial settings to ensure that the infrastructure for these services is properly installed and functioning. Reports To: Installation Supervisor / Operations Manager Key Responsibilities: Installation and Setup: Install and configure coaxial cables, connectors, and related equipment for new service installations. Test and ensure the proper functionality of installed cables and equipment. Mount hardware such as cable boxes, modems, and routers. Run coaxial cables through walls, ceilings, crawl spaces, and other hard-to-reach areas. Maintenance and Repair: Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with existing coaxial cable systems. Repair or replace damaged or malfunctioning cables, connectors, and equipment. Perform routine maintenance checks to prevent future issues. Customer Service: Interact with customers to understand their service needs and provide solutions. Educate customers on how to operate and troubleshoot basic issues with their cable and internet equipment. Provide clear and concise documentation of work performed. Safety and Compliance: Follow all safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment. Adhere to local, state, and federal regulations regarding cable installation. Ensure all installations meet company and industry standards. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and maintenance tasks. Provide reports to supervisors regarding completed work and any issues encountered. Update customer accounts with details of work performed. Skills: Proficient with hand tools and diagnostic equipment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and customer service skills.
