Air and Ocean Import Specialist
8am-5pm, 4 days onsite & 1 remote, contract with potential to convertThe Ocean Import Agent position handles shipments from beginning to end of its life cycle. This position works in a fast-paced environment and requires a strong sense of urgency, the ability to manage tight deadlines, a positive “can do” attitude, and excellent customer service skills.Key Duties:Recommend and explain shipping solutions to importers or agentsSelect shipping routes based on the nature of goods shipped, transit times, and security needsDetermine efficient and cost-effective methods of moving goods from one location to anotherReserve necessary space on ships, aircraft, trains, or trucksArrange delivery or storage of goods at destinationsConsolidate loads with a common destination to reduce costs to individual shippersEffectively communicate to customers of factors such as shipping options, timelines, transfers, or regulations affecting shipmentsKeep records of goods dispatched or receivedMonitor or record locations of goods in transitPay or arrange for payment for freights or other chargesPrepare invoices or cost quotations for freight transportationProvide shipment status notifications to exporters, consignees, or insurersResponsible for receiving, posting, and processing vendor invoicesEnsuring customer invoices are sent in a timely manner as per the KPI requirementQualifications:Strong knowledge of air export processing1 to 5 years of relevant experienceGood organizational skillsDesire to learnExcellent customer service skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong team playerProficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteCargoWise experience preferred
