Production Manager
Job Summary:
Oversee all aspects of the Production Department. Lead, direct, and coordinate the Department Supervisors and production team on all 3 shifts to accomplish schedules, production, and packaging requirements.
Responsibilities:
Monitor, direct and coordinate all activities within and between departments so they conform to production standards.
Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
Directly manage the Supervisors, Leads, Mixing Operators, Box Makers, Forklift Drivers and Packaging Room Operators.
Directly and indirectly manage all aspects of employment life cycle for plant staffing to include but not be limited to: Interviewing, Hiring, and Training employees; Planning, Assigning, and Directing work; Appraising performance; Rewarding and Disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Utilize HR system to keep employee records including attendance and hours worked as well as corrective action, reviews, and accomplishments.
Train new hires and current employees in department policies and procedures.
Direct all employees in the department to conform to CSC procedures with a priority on safety and quality.
Conduct and/or coordinate shift hand-off and pre-shift meetings to cover safety, quality, and goals.
Responsible for ensuring production targets are met.
Support, develop, and mentor leads and supervisors.
Communicate regularly with the Plant Manager; weekly track KPIs to include safety, quality, staffing, training, shift performance, employee issues and equipment needs.
Required to work with supporting departments and Supervisors (QC, Formulation, Receiving, Maintenance, etc.) to coordinate operations to meet production schedule.
Attend management meetings and trainings.
Ensure all operations run smoothly when, and when not, present.
Provide regular reporting to management and executives to include daily shift production reports.
Other duties as assigned.
High School diploma/GED required
Associates or Bachelors degree in related field highly preferred
Must have 2 years experience in supervisory role, within manufacturing preferred; within production department a plus
5 years manufacturing experience required; food industry preferred
Experience in mixing/blending, or plant manufacturing
Ability to perform all production jobs
Must be Forklift certified; or previous experience with ability to get certified
Strong oral comprehension and expression skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must have dependability with a sense of urgency
Demonstrated success in building teams
Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of employees
Must be self-motivated with strong initiative
Must have solid decision making and problem-solving skills
Must have the ability to motivate teams of employees
Computer proficiency required; Highly proficient in Microsoft Office
PCQI Trained preferred, ability to get trained required
Stand for the duration of the shift
Walk long distances
Ability to climb on and off a forklift occasionally
Push, pull, lift, & carry heavy product such as equipment, bags and drums weighing up to 100lbs
Able to extend arms with hands over the head or at shoulder height
Hold, grasp or turn with the use of hands
Touch, pickup, and pinch with the use of fingers
Kneel, stoop, or bend downwards and forward
Ascend or descend ladders and platforms
Stand, work, and walk at heights on platforms at least six feet or higher
Express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word. Convey detailed instructions to others
Able to hear, understand and distinguish speech and/or other sounds such as machinery alarms
Near and far visual acuity required
Work in an environment that is noisy, dusty, and may contain spices with high heat intensity
Withstand working in cold and hot temperatures for long periods of time
Must be able to read and write English
Must be available to work all shifts and weekends as needed
