Laydown Yard Operators

Position SummaryWe are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Laydown Yard Operator to support daily yard operations in a fast-paced outdoor environment. This role is responsible for operating heavy-duty equipment, moving and organizing materials, and maintaining an efficient and safe laydown yard. Candidates must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and performing physically active work throughout the shift. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced equipment operator looking for long-term career potential with a growing operation.Key Responsibilities Operate heavy-duty forklifts (Class 7), telehandlers, skid steers, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently Load, unload, move, and stage materials throughout the yard Assist with inventory organization and maintain accurate material placement Perform routine equipment inspections and report any maintenance or safety concerns Work closely with supervisors and team members to support daily operational goals Perform general yard duties as needed, including frequent walking and outdoor labor Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures including PPE requirements to perform the job safely Qualifications & Skills Previous experience operating heavy-duty forklifts, telehandlers, skid steers, or similar equipment required Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions Ability to lift, move, and handle materials in an active yard environment Strong attention to safety and operational procedures Reliable attendance and strong work ethic required Ability to work independently and as part of a team Steel toe boots and appropriate work attire required Consistent work history Employment Type & Compensation Full-Time | Temp-to-Hire position Compensation: $20.00 - $21.00 per hour, based on experience Application Period: This position will remain open until filled Work Schedule Monday – Friday | 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM Benefits Paid Holidays Medical, Dental, Vision insurance Bereavement Leave Retirement, 401(k) Personal AdvancementEmployer Information This position is being recruited by NCW on behalf of a client company.
