FABco Reinforcing Ironworker Apprentice (Colorado)Reinforcing Ironworkers position and secure steel bars or mesh in concrete forms in order to reinforce concrete using a variety of fasteners, rod-bending machines, blowtorches, and hand tools.Apprentices of this skilled trade enroll in a time-based program for 2 years with an on the job learning attainment of 4,000 hours, supplemented by the minimum required 288 hours of related instruction. All training and coursework are provided by the company.Apprentices may begin at a pay rate of $19.00 per hour and receive regular increases in pay based on completion of on the job learning requirements. Once all related instruction and on the job learning is completed, the minimum wage for a graduate of the apprenticeship program is $25.00 per hour.Rates may be negotiable based on prior experience. Credit for previous training and certifications may also be applied to new apprentice enrollments with satisfactory evidence of certifications on a case-by-case basis.For inquiries into enrolling as a Reinforcing Ironworker Apprentice, or questions regarding our programs, please email Apprenticeship@fabcous.com.This role may include, but is not limited to, the following typical duties:Determine quantities, sizes, shapes, and locations of reinforcing rods from blueprints, sketches, or oral instructionsReview blueprints or specifications to determine work requirementsSpace and fasten together rods in forms according to blueprints, using wire and pliersPosition and secure steel bars, rods, cables, or mesh in concrete forms, using pliers, rod-bending machines, acetylene torches, or hand toolsCut rods to required lengths, using gas power saw, bar cutters, or acetylene torchesCut metal components for installationPlace blocks under rebar to hold the bars off the deck when reinforcing floorsPosition safety or support equipmentCut and fit wire mesh or welded wire fabric in concrete to reinforce concreteCut metal components for installationBend steel rods with hand tools or rod-bending machinesSome travel may be requiredInventory materials as requiredOrder of materials as requiredCleaning cables to prep stressing proceduresStressing cables with a use of a stressing jackLifting over 50 pounds, bending, stooping, and reachingStanding/walking for a long period of timeClimbing/descending ladders, working on heightsSetting column cages, pier cages and wall reinforcementFlagging/Rigging rebar (trained personnel)Adhere to all FABco safety rules and policiesHousekeepingMinimum Hiring Requirements1.
