The Director oversees debt issuance for capital projects, coordinates activities with Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO) for endowment, pension and captive investments, including strategic investment initiatives, such as healthcare venture funds and direct investments in early-stage companies. The Director ensures compliance with financial regulations and handles administrative functions related to these areas, ensuring smooth operations and alignment with organizational goalsKey AccountabilitiesLead planning, structuring, and issuance of debt for capital projects, including tax-exempt and taxable bonds. Lead debt-related financial modeling and scenario analysis.Monitor compliance with debt covenants and regulatory requirementsManage relationships with rating agencies, underwriters, and financial advisors ensuring timely and accurate communicationMonitor covenant compliance, interest rate exposure, and refinancing opportunitiesCoordinate activities with Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO) relating to reporting and administrative activities of endowment, defined benefit pension and captive investmentsMonitor performance of OCIO and ensure adherence to investment policy statementsEvaluate and execute funding of investments in healthcare venture funds and direct investments in early to late-stage startup companiesMonitor portfolio and warrant performance and report on strategic investment outcomes to senior leadershipUtilize platforms such as Backstop, Canoe, and Carta for investment tracking, reporting, and analysisCollaborate with internal stakeholders to align investment strategies with long-term financial and strategic goalsSupervise administrative processes for both investment and debt functionsIdentify and mitigate financial risks related to debt and investmentsQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related fieldTen plus years of progressive experience in debt issuance and investment management, preferably in a non-profit or healthcare settingNon-profit debt issuance (tax-exempt bonds, private placements)Endowment and pension fund managementStrategic investment planning and asset allocationVenture capital and direct investments in early-stage companiesExperience collaborating with investment committeesAbility to effectively plan, manage and prioritize multiple projects at a variety of stagesStrong analytical and organizational skillsStrong problem solving and strategic thinking abilitiesEffective written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently and in a fast-paced team environmentWe take great care of careers.With locations around the state, Hartford HealthCare offers exciting opportunities for career development and growth.
