As a Construction Observer at Certus, you will serve as an on-site representative and construction observer for the MEP scope, responsible for overseeing construction activities and ensuring consistent compliance with contract documents, applicable codes, and standards of practice across multiple projects. You will also serves as a key liaison between the project manager, client, contractors, and project teams. What are some key attributes that will make someone successful in this role?Working knowledge of building and energy codesAbility to prioritize multiple tasks with attention to detailSelf-motivated with strong personal ambition and work ethicStrong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationshipsStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational skillsAble to interact with other members of the design team including architects, their consultants, and construction trade partners.Must be able to read and interpret construction design documents.Understanding of the requirements related to the installation of ductwork, piping, and electrical systems within a healthcare facility.Ability to maintain positive working relationships with contractors, clients, inspectors, and design teams.Requirements:Minimum of five years of experience in the construction industry including field inspection, or construction administration.Understanding of construction drawings, including sketches, diagrams, plans and specifications.Knowledge of common construction materials, methods, and sequencing.Ability to travel to job sites regularly.Core ResponsibilitiesPeriodic site visits and related observation reports to ensure compliance with the design and applicable codes and standards. Attend OAC meetings, perform submittal reviews, and provide RFI responses as required to support the construction phase of the project.Serve as resource and liaison between owners, architects, consultants, and contractors.Assist with identification and resolution of construction-related issues throughout the project lifecycle.Document and file job related information include correspondence, test reports, and drawings.Produce clear, accurate, and concise meeting minutes.Track, log, and verify payment applications.
