Registered Nurse (RN) – Independent Contractor Company: HCSRN of Texas Location: Houston, TX (and assigned HCS Provider Sites) Contract Type: Independent Contractor Agreement Reports To: Director of Nursing / Clinical Director Position Summary The Registered Nurse (RN) Independent Contractor provides professional nursing services across assigned HCS/TxHML provider sites. This role includes clinical oversight, delegation, supervision of LVNs and unlicensed personnel, and ensuring all nursing practices comply with Texas Board of Nursing standards and HCS/TxHML regulations. The RN plays a key role in assessments, documentation, compliance, and overall clinical quality assurance. Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Duties Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments, medication reviews, and care plan development. Perform RN delegation, supervise LVNs and unlicensed personnel, and evaluate competencies. Oversee medication administration systems and ensure accuracy in MAR documentation. Lead nursing audits, clinical oversight visits, and targeted monitoring as needed. Coordinate with physicians, pharmacies, and interdisciplinary team members (IDT) to maintain compliance. Document findings, recommendations, and follow-up actions in a timely manner. Documentation & Compliance Complete all required documentation within designated timelines using approved systems (e.g., TaskMaster Pro). Maintain compliance with all HCS/TxHML TAC requirements, HHSC regulations, and agency policies. Report incidents, medication errors, and changes in condition promptly to ensure continuity of care. Participate in state survey readiness, targeted monitoring, and ongoing QA/QI initiatives. Professional Conduct Maintain professional boundaries, ethics, and strict HIPAA compliance. Demonstrate effective communication, punctuality, and professionalism during all assignments. Attend quarterly trainings and complete required competency evaluations. Performance Expectations & Deliverables Submit all documentation within 24–48 hours of service delivery. Follow clinical visit schedules and agency reporting requirements. Comply with RN/LVN scope of practice and all contractual terms. Participate in clinical meetings, audits, and reviews as requested. Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Licensure: Active Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing. Experience: Minimum 1 year of nursing experience; HCS, IDD, or home health experience preferred. Certifications: Current CPR certification. Requirements: Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of liability insurance. Compensation Compensation is determined according to the Independent Contractor Agreement and is paid per the retainer and fee schedule for billable services.
