If that sounds like an organization you want to be a part of, we would love to have you.ROLE OVERVIEW and PURPOSE:The Lead Medical Assistant will support various providers, advanced providers, and registered nurses to provide excellent patient-centered care and services within a dynamic team environment. This role will work with clinical supervisors and nurses to provide training to new and less experienced medical assistants (MA). Additionally, it communicates with patients and performs clinical services to ensure high quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.RESPONSIBILITIES:Direct Patient CareImpacts patient experience by demonstrating courteous and helpful behavior and a commitment to accuracyResponds promptly and with caring actions to patients and employeesMaintains professional working relationships with all levels of staff, clients and the publicProvider and Team SupportWorks with registered nursed to train and mentor new medical assistants in the back-office area to ensure all tasks on the training checklist are completeShares accountability for overall patient health outcomes by working in coordination with Care TeamsOperates to instill confidence in our care and in our facilities to patients, fellow employees, and other stakeholdersContributes to the success of the organization by participating in quality improvement activitiesCooperates in accomplishing department goals and objectivesClinical AdministrationMonitors patient flow in the back office and cross covering, as needed. Adjusts daily assignments and schedules to provide sufficient MA coverage during all patient contact times, including lunch breaksMaintains sufficient supplies to perform tasks in the back-office areaMonitors the daily assignment for completing tasks, such as recording of daily temperatures of refrigerators/freezers, stocking exam rooms, empty sharps containers and infectious waste, and other related tasksReports equipment failures and responds appropriately to correct the problemProvides input into the evaluations of the Medical Assistants working in the back-officeLeads back-office meetings and attends other required meetingsFunctions at highest level according to credentials and competencyEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:High school/GED requiredValid medical assistant certificate/diploma from an accredited program requiredCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required upon hire and must be maintained as a condition of employment. These courses must follow AHA guidelines, but may be completed through approved online providers such as ProMed or other equivalent programs that meet recognized BLS standards. Two years medical assistant experience requiredLead or supervisory experience preferredADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferredExcellent verbal and written communication skills, including superior composition, typing, and proofreading skillsAbility to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formFamiliarity with medical procedures and terminologyProficiency with electronic health records system experience preferredIntermediate computer and data entry skillsMust use sound judgement to anticipate needs of patients and providersFlexibility with changing priorities and time sensitive deadlinesUse emotional and cultural intelligence to provide appropriate communication and patient careExemplify compassion to patients and team membersAbility to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyAbility to work as part of a team as well as independentlyAbility to work with highly confidential information in a professional and ethical mannerPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift/carry 15 lbs/weightAbility to stand for long periods of timePay Range: $27.21 - $38.10/hr, depending on experience (DOE)Compensation Disclosure: The posted salary range reflects the designated pay grade for this position. While this range represents the broader classification of the role, actual compensation will be based on several factors, including but not limited to: the candidate’s overall knowledge, skills, and experience, market data and industry benchmarks, internal equity within the organization, Budgetary considerations and organizational needs. As a result, placement within the range is not guaranteed, and the full pay grade range may not be utilized.
