Job Description Provider Type: Physician - Hematology/Oncology - Staff PositionPractice Location: Our organization operates in the following locations:Albany - 315 South Manning Blvd, Albany, NY 12208Troy - 2215 Burdett Ave, Troy, NY 12180Hours of Operation: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM; closed on weekends.PRACTICE HIGHLIGHTSOur organization is affiliated with a leading cancer center in Buffalo, NY. The physicians involved in the hematology/oncology program will be employed by our organization.Physicians typically see 15-18 patients daily, with the option to increase this volume if desired.Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) manage approximately 10-12 patients each day.During hospital rounds, physicians do not have assigned patients.The average daily hospital census ranges from 20-30 patients.Office schedules and on-call patient loads are designed to be manageable and equitable.Average Patient Volume:Albany Clinic: 50-80 patients daily; average daily infusion visits: 30-38.Troy Clinic: 40 patients daily; average daily infusion visits: 15-20.Nurses, APPs, and physicians are authorized to administer antineoplastic agents.MDs and APPs also perform intrathecal, intralesional, and intracavity procedures.Bone marrow and fine needle aspiration biopsies are primarily conducted by Interventional Radiology.Nurses are responsible for managing vascular access devices (VADs).Intrapleural therapies are provided in an inpatient setting.We are actively pursuing clinical trials in collaboration with our affiliated cancer center.The oncology service line consists of approximately 80% oncology and 20% benign hematology.We are transitioning to a 1:1 physician to APP model within the oncology service line.Patient DemographicsPatients come from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.Age range includes geriatric to young adult (no pediatric patients).High patient volumes for pancreatic, breast, colon, and urological cancers.Lower patient volumes for melanoma and renal cancers.Physicians have access to various specialties within our healthcare system (Thoracic, GI, Head & Neck, and GU).The GI group operates independently but collaborates effectively with our oncology service line.Our oncology service line does not manage acute leukemias or currently have a bone marrow transplant program.Our oncology service line includes dedicated APPs for both inpatient and outpatient services.Support Staff:Our nursing team achieved Magnet designation in 2022.Each physician is assigned a primary nurse to handle triage calls and administrative tasks.Dedicated nurses are present in both the Albany and Troy clinics to assist with patient management.Pharmacy Support: We have four full-time pharmacists available to assist with chemotherapy-related inquiries.Call ResponsibilitiesInpatient consult/call responsibility follows a 1:5 schedule.Aiming for a future goal of a 1:7 schedule.Consult services are managed by hospitalists, with dedicated inpatient APPs overseeing patient care.After-hours call responsibility occurs Monday to Thursday every five weeks.Weekend call responsibility is scheduled for Friday to Sunday every five weeks.Electronic Medical Record system used: EPIC.Tumor BoardsWe conduct tumor boards for GU, GI, Breast, Thoracic, and General oncology.Virtual access to specialized tumor boards from our affiliated cancer center is available.QUALIFICATIONSMust possess Board Certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine with subspecialty certification in Medical Oncology and Hematology, or be in the process of obtaining it.Demonstrates a commitment to patient-centered care and a desire to work collaboratively within a team.Exhibits exceptional interpersonal and clinical skills.Shows enthusiasm and motivation to deliver optimal patient care and outcomes.This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established practice with high patient demand, while benefiting from supportive colleagues, excellent facilities, and a physician-friendly environment.RECRUITMENT PACKAGEOur organization offers a comprehensive salary and benefits package that includes:Annual Salary: $550,000 - $600,000 for the first two years, plus a WRVU productivity model.Annual Salary: $650,000 for years three to five.The stated salary reflects the starting range of total compensation and does not include productivity bonuses, quality and performance incentives, extra shift bonuses, and other forms of cash compensation as applicable. Additionally, providers typically receive a CME allowance and other benefits from their medical group employer.
