SALARY:
$2,059.03 - $2,368.63 biweekly
JOB OBJECTIVES:
Incumbent works as Sewer Technician for Lafayette Renew, responsible for repairing and maintaining collection
system sewer lines, storm water catch basins, and manhole access structures.
DUTIES:
Repairs and replaces drainage tiles, manhole structures, and catch basins using a variety of hand tools, trash
pumps and hoses, pneumatic tools, and small power operating equipment.
Installs sewer lines and access manhole structures.
Spreads and rakes hot and cold patch asphalt mix and other paving materials to proper thickness and grade
on roadways.
Performs landscaping duties such as grading slopes, seeding, cutting grass, trimming branches, and removing
trees and stumps from drainage ditches.
Performs sewer tap inspections, sewer locates, and related record keeping.
Performs activities relevant to removal, construction, and maintenance of manholes, including sandblasting
and painting.
Overtime as required.
Possess and maintain a valid CDL Class B Commercial Driver’s License with a tanker endorsement (N), along
with a demonstrated safe driving record.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• High school diploma or GED required and equivalent combination of training and/or work experience in
related field.
Ability to safely operate equipment including pickup truck, dump truck, sewer rodding and cleaning
equipment, mower, front end loader, jet trucks, boom truck, bobcat and other equipment.
Ability to learn OSHA safety procedures for “Right to Know,” MSA meter, confined space entry, methane gas
detection, First Aid, CPR, and traffic control.
Ability to safely operate a wide variety of hand and power tools, including hammers, shovel, chain saw, drills,
torch, and other tools and equipment used in the construction, repair, and maintenance of sewer lines,
manhole structures, and drainage ditches.
Ability to read, write, comprehend, and act upon verbal and written instructions, policies, and procedures
pertaining to assigned duties.
Must be proficient using Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
