Director of Accounting

Working with a great client of ours in the hospitality space on a Director of Accounting role. Will be working on commercial construction accounting. This is an on site role in Scottsdale with great bonus potential (target of 35%). Role OverviewThe Director of Accounting oversees financial operations for development projects from early-stage planning through construction and into operations. This role manages project accounting, financial reporting, and compliance with applicable accounting standards, while partnering with leadership and cross-functional teams to support execution.Key ResponsibilitiesManage accounting for development and construction projects, including cost tracking and financial reportingOversee project-based accounting (e.g., job costs, draws, retainage, capitalization)Monitor budgets, timelines, and cost variances in collaboration with project teamsLead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processesPrepare and consolidate financial statements across multiple entitiesEnsure accurate revenue recognition and expense allocationSupport financing requirements, including reporting and complianceAssist with cash flow planning and managementEstablish and maintain internal controlsSupport audits, tax filings, and regulatory complianceAnalyze performance and support operational decision-makingImprove accounting processes and systems for scalabilitySupervise and develop accounting staffHandle ad hoc projects as neededQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field8+ years of relevant accounting experience, including development or construction environmentsStrong knowledge of accounting standards and project-based accountingExperience with multi-entity structures and financial consolidationsFamiliarity with construction cost tracking and work-in-progress reportingStrong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple prioritiesReporting StructureReports to: CFODirect reports: Accounting staff
