Repairs Technician
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Laser Optics and Electronics Repair Technician to join our team in Wixom, MI. This role focuses on the inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and refurbishment of laser processing heads and associated electronic and optical components. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on technical work, has strong attention to detail, and is comfortable working with precision optical systems and electronic assemblies.Responsibilities· Inspect, diagnose, and repair laser cutting heads and beam delivery components· Disassemble, clean, and reassemble precision optical systems including lenses, windows, and protective optics· Troubleshoot motors, sensors, electronics, and electromechanical components used in laser processing heads· Support preparation of accurate repair estimates and documentation for customer repairs· Perform optical inspection and cleaning following strict contamination control procedures· Conduct final functional testing of repaired cutting heads including focus position verification and performance checks· Document repair procedures, findings, and corrective actions in internal systems· Interpret technical drawings, service manuals, and maintenance documentation· Operate electrical and electronic test equipment such as multimeters, power supplies, and diagnostic tools· Maintain inventory of spare parts, optical components, and repair materials· Maintain a clean and organized repair environment following 5S and optics handling best practices· Support troubleshooting of customer-reported technical issues related to Precitec cutting systems· Collaborate with engineering and service teams to identify product improvements and recurring failure modes· Assist with internal technical training and occasional customer training activities· Perform data searches and documentation within internal service and ERP systemsQualifications· Minimum of 2 years of experience in a technical repair, electronics, or precision equipment environment· Associate degree or technical certification in electronics, mechatronics, optics, or related field preferred· Hands-on experience working with electronic assemblies, motors, and sensors· Experience handling precision optical components or laser systems is highly desirable· Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and maintenance documentation· Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision components· Comfortable working with hand tools, measuring instruments, and electronic test equipment· Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and service documentation systems
