Lead Technician

What The Role IsReporting to the Wind Site Manager, the Lead Technician will contribution to the day to day operations of the Sleeping Bear wind site, by participating in and monitor the performance of wind turbine mechanical, hydraulic, and electric component maintenance and sub-station activities. The primary objective of this position is to maintain safe, effective, efficient, and profitable wind turbine operations.If you don't meet 100% of the below qualifications but see yourself contributing, please submit your resume.What You'll Be DoingMonitor, abide by and enforce safe work practices as they relate to wind plants, wind plant personnel, wind turbine repairs, maintenance, and balance of plant activitiesInspect completed repairs and scheduled maintenance for quality assuranceTroubleshoot complicated mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on Clearway owned equipmentPerform all mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical component maintenance, repair and replacement and ensure others are doing the same in accordance with proper procedure, guidance and to Clearway standardsUse proper tooling and equipment to perform troubleshooting, repair and maintenance activities on Clearway owned equipmentSupport in all areas of site operations, including leading crews, as directed by Site Manager and with minimal supervisionAssist in the training and development of lower level operation and maintenance personnelEnsure crews document all work performed, parts used, and time spent using computer-based service reporting proceduresResponsible for updating manuals, work instructions and technical wind turbine dataRead and understand electrical schematics and wiring diagrams and mentor others as neededMonitor site conditions, contractors, and Clearway personnel to maximize revenue and minimize downtime during repairs and maintenanceEnsure crews maintain all tools and equipment in good working order and well organizedSafely perform LOTO and mentor lower level technicians in LOTOPerform balance of plant, O&M facility and switchyard maintenance, repairs, and inspection as requiredWork a flexible schedule, including weeknights, weekends, and holidays as neededEnsure all vehicles and equipment are properly maintained and serviced What You'll BringHigh school diploma or GED is requiredAssociates degree (electrical or technical) and 2+ years turbine experience, or 5+ years wind turbine experience required1+ years of independent turbine troubleshooting experience, and be able to troubleshoot turbines without assistance requiredAble to climb towers unassisted up to 300 feetComfortable standing outside the nacelle and nosecone at the top of the turbine and working in adverse weather conditionsMust possess a valid driver's license and good driving recordAble to work with electrical wires and differentiate between color wiresAble to safely work in a wide range of adverse climates and environmentsAble to travel as requiredDemonstrated ability to maintain wind turbines at a high availability factorProficiency in MS Office, and fluent in creating, editing, and modifying Word and Excel documentsPossess in-depth understanding of the different components of the wind turbine including the pitch system, computerized control system, and the power conversion unit as well as knowledge and understanding of OEM approved mechanical maintenance methods and practicesPossess the skills to perform mechanical and electrical equipment repairs and guide and mentor others to do the same What Would Be NicePrevious experience in SAP is preferredClearway will not sponsor nonimmigrant visas for this position (H-1B, TN, E-3, etc.).The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, relevant and demonstrated experience, education, training and certifications, and other factors permitted by law.
