Senior Electrical Subject Matter Expert (Sr. Electrical SME)Shift: 4 10-hour shifts (Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Friday)Budget: $42-52/hour based on experienceClient: On site with GooglePosition SummaryThe Senior Electrical Subject Matter Expert (Sr. Electrical SME) serves as the organization’s technical authority for complex electrical systems, standards, and best practices. This role provides strategic guidance, technical leadership, and hands-on expertise across design, engineering, operations, troubleshooting, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Sr. Electrical SME partners cross-functionally to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient electrical infrastructure aligned with industry standards and business objectives.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership & StrategyServe as the primary technical authority for medium- and high-voltage electrical systems, power distribution, protection systems, and control architectures.Develop and maintain electrical design standards, specifications, and best practices.Lead root cause analysis and resolution of complex electrical failures.Provide expert review and approval of electrical designs, calculations, and engineering deliverables.Engineering & Project SupportSupport capital projects from concept through commissioning, including design validation and field oversight.Conduct load flow, short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and reliability studies.Evaluate new technologies and recommend implementation strategies.Collaborate with mechanical, controls, and operations teams to optimize system performance.Compliance & SafetyEnsure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, OSHA).Lead electrical safety programs, risk assessments, and arc flash mitigation strategies.Provide technical input for regulatory audits and inspections.Operational ExcellenceDevelop preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for electrical assets.Mentor engineers and technicians; provide training on electrical systems and safety practices.Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, efficiency, and cost reduction.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).10+ years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, power systems, or industrial environments.Demonstrated expertise in power distribution systems (low, medium, and high voltage).Strong understanding of applicable codes and standards.Preferred ExperienceExperience in large industrial, manufacturing, data center, utility, or energy environments.Commissioning and startup experience.Knowledge of renewable integration, backup generation systems, and UPS systems.Familiarity with SCADA, PLCs, and control systems integration.Core CompetenciesAdvanced analytical and troubleshooting skillsStrategic thinking and systems-level perspectiveStrong communication and leadership capabilitiesHigh attention to detail and commitment to safetyAbility to influence cross-functional teamsWork EnvironmentCombination of office and field environments.May require travel to project sites or operational facilities.Ability to work in industrial environments including exposure to electrical equipment and construction areas.This position does not provide visa sponsorship.
