Maintenance Team Lead
Job DescriptionSummary: The Maintenance Team Lead is responsible for working on equipment and coaching Maintenance Team Members (80-90%), using the remaining work schedule for administrative tasks. The Team Lead will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures and applicable laws.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Meet with the Maintenance Manager to discuss and review workloadResponsible for overall good receipts/check-in and close out processUtilize the INFOR system to create, manage and closed work orders Utilize Grainger’s Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI)Update and correct Red Prairie daily; submit paperwork to Human Resources for processing (time off, sick days, vacation, tardies, transfer hours, etc.)Maintain constant workflow through the departmentEnsure maintenance records and reports are accurate and completed on timeEffective labor planning for the department is achievedEnsure the department has the proper equipment and qualified personnel to perform its functions; ensure repair parts, tools, and supplies are properly accounted forEnsure technical catalogs, drawings, blueprints, maintenance procedures, and vendor contact lists are properly revised and maintainedWork with outside janitorial contractor to ensure complianceSchedule outside contractors for routine or emergency maintenance, project work as necessaryConduct start-up meetings with Team Members to discuss previous day¿s results, present day expectation, issues that need to be addressed, office/safety issues, and work assignments for the dayManage/Lead stretching exercises as neededReview department cleanliness dailyKeep work area neat, clean and hazard freeInteract with members of distribution center staff to ensure maintenance and operational procedures are followedEnsure maintenance schedules and proper procedures are followedContribute to the preparation and review of maintenance expenses and capital budgetsContribute to operation plans for staffing and equipment requirementsProvide follow-up on projects, repairs and proceduresBe available in work locations to assist as needed and resolve issues as requiredRegularly communicate with the facility management on issues that arise and respond as requiredBackup for Maintenance Manager during vacation or absencesQualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Experience using INFOR system Experience managing parts and assets in InforExperience using Grainger’s Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI)Knowledge of process and retention limits for maintenance recordsKnowledge of security controls and fire protection systemsPrior warehouse experience or training is strongly preferred but not requiredAbility to operate material handling equipmentComplete functional and detailed knowledge of shop equipment, test equipment, hand and power tools; conveyor system and related equipment; building, HVAC, lighting, electrical, and other related equipment and structuresAbility to work split, alternating and off shifts as required; ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays as requiredAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos, write simple correspondenceAbility to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to management and otherTeam Members in the department, facility and organizationAbility to add subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and use metric system as neededAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram formatsAbility to deal with problems involving constant variables in standardized situationsPromotion CriteriaIn position minimum of three years before being considered for promotion to Maintenance ManagerMust have the knowledge and ability to perform job duties of a Maintenance ManagerNo progressive written counseling within the 12 monthsRating of Meets Expectation or higher on last annual evaluationAbility to relocate to another facilityMay require Supervisor or Manager AssessmentEDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or GED required (Associate’s degree preferred); and 3-5 years related experience, training or some equivalent combination of education and experienceSupervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position has supervisory responsibility, directly or indirectly supervises Team Members in the Maintenance DepartmentCERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSPost hire certifications may be required to comply with safety standards as mandated by law to operate machinery or equipment.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
