Job Title: Gifted and Talented (GT) CoordinatorHamburg School District2026 - 2027 School YearThe Gifted and Talented (GT) Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing the district's Gifted and Talented program for students in Kindergarten through Grade 12. The coordinator ensures that gifted students receive appropriate educational opportunities designed to promote intellectual, creative, and academic growth while supporting teachers in the implementation of gifted education strategies. The coordinator also oversees the administration and coordination of Advanced Placement (AP) testing at the high school level.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's DegreeValid Arkansas teaching licenseGifted and Talented certification or willingness to obtain certification as required by Arkansas Department of EducationCitizenship, residency, or work visa requiredKnowledge of gifted education program requirements and best practicesUnderstanding of assessment, differentiation, and enrichment strategies for advanced learnersStrong organizational, communication, and leadership skillsREPORTS TO:Building PrincipalSuperintendentESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Coordinate and oversee the district's Gifted and Talented program for students in Kindergarten through Grade 12.Ensure the district's GT program complies with Arkansas Department of Education regulations and state guidelines.Coordinate identification and screening processes for gifted students, including referrals, assessments, and placement procedures.Maintain accurate records of gifted student identification, services, and progress in compliance with state requirements.Assist teachers in developing and implementing differentiated instruction and enrichment opportunities for gifted learners.Provide instructional resources, strategies, and professional development to teachers serving gifted students.Collaborate with building administrators, teachers, and staff to support appropriate educational programming for gifted students.Monitor the effectiveness of GT services and recommend improvements to meet student needs.Assist with the development and implementation of district curriculum enhancements and enrichment opportunities for advanced learners.Coordinate and facilitate meetings related to gifted student services, including parent meetings when appropriate.Communicate regularly with parents regarding GT services, identification procedures, and student opportunities.Promote opportunities for gifted students including academic competitions, enrichment programs, and advanced learning experiences.Provide support and consultation for teachers regarding differentiation, enrichment, and acceleration strategies.Assist with data collection, analysis, and reporting related to gifted program effectiveness and compliance.Oversee the planning, coordination, and administration of Advanced Placement (AP) testing at the high school level.Ensure AP testing procedures follow College Board requirements and testing security guidelines.Coordinate AP exam ordering, scheduling, test administration, and materials management.Train and support staff involved in administering AP exams.Maintain testing documentation and ensure proper submission of required reports.Participate in district, regional, and state meetings related to gifted education and advanced academic programming.Participate in professional development activities to remain current with best practices in gifted education.Take steps to counteract prejudices based on race, religion, gender, age, disabilities, or personal attributes to foster a learning community that respects all participants.Report suspected abuse, neglect, discrimination, and harassment as directed by Board of Education policy.Maintain records of teacher training as related to gifted and talented and advanced placement, this includes Talents Unlimited training, content differentiation and honors classes.Collect documentation from classroom teachers (lesson plans, student samples) as it relates to Honors, differentiation, and Talent Unlimited.Maintain cooperative working relationships with administrators, teachers, parents, and community stakeholders.Respond to administrative requests promptly.Comply with all federal and state laws and district policies.Comply with regulations regarding hours of arrival and departure from school.Perform other duties as assigned by the superintendent, principals, or designee.Provide and accept constructive criticism for improvement of teaching and learning.Maintain a cooperative working relationship with parents and co-workers to support the mission of the school district.Maintain professional relationships with students.Comply with regulations as to hours of arrival and departure from school.Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Frequent travel between district campuses.Moderate lifting or carrying (less than 30 pounds).Sitting for extended periods.Standing for extended periods.Manual dexterity for the use of office equipment and technology.Maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning and problem-solving skills while under stress.Must be able to interpret procedures and analyze data for decision-making.Perform all duties safely and responsibly.
