Application Engineer – Warehouse Automation (Hybrid)I’m currently partnering with a leading, vendor-neutral intralogistics and automation solutions provider to support the growth of their engineering team.The Application Engineer sits at the core of the sales process, acting as the technical bridge between customer requirements and engineered automation solutions. You will partner closely with commercial teams to translate operational challenges into scalable system concepts — from early-stage discovery through to proposal.This is a hybrid, customer-facing role, requiring a balance of on-site engagement and remote work. You should be equally comfortable conducting detailed operational assessments in live warehouse environments as you are presenting engineered solutions and ROI-driven business cases to senior stakeholders in a virtual or boardroom setting.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct site surveys and operational assessments using structured evaluation methodologiesGather and analyse key data including throughput, SKU profiles, labour models, and facility constraintsDesign and develop automation concepts by selecting and integrating appropriate technologies from a broad, vendor-neutral portfolioProduce system layouts, concept designs, and technical specifications (e.g. using AutoCAD)Build financial models and ROI analyses to support customer investment decisionsPresent solutions and recommendations to operational leaders and executive stakeholdersCollaborate with delivery and engineering teams to ensure a smooth transition from concept to executionBackground & Experience3–7 years of experience in application engineering, pre-sales, or system design within warehouse automation, material handling, or intralogisticsStrong understanding of core automation technologies such as AS/RS, conveyors, AMRs, VLMs, carousels, or similar systemsExperience developing facility layouts and working with design tools such as AutoCADStrong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiencesExperience building business cases and ROI models is advantageousBackground within a systems integrator preferred; candidates from OEMs or manufacturers with customer-facing technical experience will also be considered
