Summary:
Join a remote engineering team supporting a Java-based platform within a highly regulated environment. This contract role focuses on delivering secure, production-grade enhancements across multiple initiatives while collaborating with teams that leverage modern developer productivity tooling, including AI-assisted code generation.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional Java development experience (server-side/backend preferred)
- Recent experience in a highly regulated industry (e.g., financial services, healthcare, insurance, government, or similar)
- Demonstrated track record building software with strong security considerations (secure coding practices, risk awareness, auditability)
- Experience working in distributed/remote teams with strong written communication habits
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (AI code generation / coding copilots) and good judgment on their safe/secure usage
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent practical experience) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Responsibilities:
- Build and enhance Java services/components supporting a large-scale enterprise platform
- Deliver secure, maintainable code aligned to regulated-environment expectations (reviews, controls, documentation where required)
- Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and iterative delivery across multiple parallel initiatives
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to clarify requirements and translate them into technical deliverables
- Identify and remediate security risks and quality issues (vulnerabilities, logging/monitoring gaps, stability concerns)
- Contribute to team standards and workflows for safely using AI-assisted coding tools in day-to-day development
