Property Accounting Manager
CooperDouglas is partnering with a well-established real estate organization to hire a Property Accounting Manager to oversee accounting operations for a multi-property portfolio. This role will lead the month-end close and financial reporting process across assigned properties while managing and reviewing work prepared by offshore accounting teams.This is a highly visible role with ownership of property-level financials and the opportunity to drive process improvements, strengthen controls, and mentor accounting resources. Ideal for a hands-on accounting leader who thrives in a fast-paced real estate environment and enjoys balancing technical accounting responsibilities with team oversight.Key ResponsibilitiesManage full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of 15+ propertiesLead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring timely and accurate reportingSupervise and review financial statements, journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules prepared by offshore accounting teamsOversee close timelines and ensure all reporting deadlines are metAnalyze property operating results and provide variance analysis to managementPartner with property management teams to resolve accounting issues, cash activity discrepancies, and tenant-related mattersReview accounts payable activity to ensure proper coding, approvals, and compliance with company policiesSupport external audits, tax reporting, and lender reporting requirementsParticipate in financial review meetings and provide insight into property performance and key business driversIdentify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability across accounting operationsAssist with training, mentoring, and developing accounting staff and offshore team membersQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field6+ years of accounting experience, preferably within real estate, property accounting, or multi-entity environmentsPrior experience leading, mentoring, or reviewing the work of accounting staffStrong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirementsExperience managing or reviewing work performed by offshore or outsourced accounting teams preferredAdvanced Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting systems; Yardi experience strongly preferredStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple properties, priorities, and deadlinesExcellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with property operations and leadership teamsCompensationBase salary: $145,000 + Bonus opportunity
