Student App Developer – North Star App *Compensation:* $7,500–$10,000 project-based *Location:* Tucson, AZ / Hybrid or Remote *Employment Type:* Student Project / Contract *Ideal Candidate:* University of Arizona student or recent graduate About North Star We are looking for a talented and motivated *student app developer* to help bring *North Star* to life. North Star is an innovative mobile app concept designed to help users find direction, connection, and resources in one easy-to-use platform. We are currently developing the initial version of the app and are looking for a student developer who wants the opportunity to play a meaningful role in building a startup from the ground up. This is a great opportunity for a student who wants to move beyond classroom projects and gain *real-world experience developing an app that can become a commercial product.* The Opportunity The selected developer will work directly with the founder to develop the *Minimum Viable Product (MVP)* of the North Star app. You will have an opportunity to contribute to important technical and product decisions and potentially continue with the project as North Star grows. What You’ll Do * Develop the initial North Star mobile application * Help translate product ideas and wireframes into a functional app * Build an intuitive, attractive, and user-friendly interface * Develop the app's core functionality and features * Set up and connect the appropriate backend/database services * Integrate APIs and third-party services as needed * Test, troubleshoot, and improve application performance * Help prepare the application for deployment to the Apple App Store and Google Play Store * Work collaboratively with the founder to refine features and functionality * Provide basic technical documentation and handoff materials What We’re Looking For We are especially interested in a *University of Arizona student* studying: * Computer Science * Computer Engineering * Software Engineering * Information Science * Web/App Development * Or a related field Ideal Skills You don't need to have every skill listed below. We are looking for someone who is talented, resourceful, and excited about building something. Experience with some of the following is preferred: * iOS and/or Android development * React Native, Flutter, Swift, Kotlin, or similar technologies * JavaScript/TypeScript * Firebase, Supabase, or other backend platforms * APIs and database integration * Git/GitHub * UI/UX implementation * App Store / Google Play deployment *Most importantly, we want someone who can take an idea and turn it into a working product.* Compensation *$7,500–$10,000 for the initial development project*, depending on experience, technical skills, scope, and agreed-upon deliverables. The project will be structured around clearly defined milestones, allowing the developer to receive compensation as development milestones are completed.
