Hatchery Production Technician

DescriptionJoin our team as a Hatchery Production Technician, where you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality and safety of our operations. This position typically works Friday, Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 3:00 AM. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Participate in hatchery quality control, animal welfare, biosecurity, and safety programs. Ensure the correct eggs are pulled and placed into designated hatchers. Work in a high-temperature environment (100+ degrees) for extended periods, enduring potential unpleasant odors. Lift, push, and pull weights of 50 lbs or more repeatedly while engaging in continuous standing, walking, and frequent physical movements. Set up and clean the working areas including halls and setters. Stay onsite until all team duties are completed to maintain quality standards. Be trained to fill in for absent team members as required. Guide team members in their functions to ensure a safe and efficient operation. Actively monitor safety and report any concerns. Assist with the egg setting process, transfers, and processing of chicks for deliveries. Maintain detailed documentation related to transfers, processing, and vaccine tracking. Monitor machines and equipment for proper operation, and report any deficiencies. Assist in creating training materials for new and existing team members. Cross-train in other hatchery positions as necessary. Complete any other duties assigned by hatchery leadership. Be flexible to work nights, days, holidays, or weekends as needed. Expectations:Adhere strictly to company policies on personnel, quality, safety, and food safety. Maintain a positive work atmosphere through effective communication and teamwork. Remain on the premises until all job responsibilities are fulfilled. Clearly follow all company policies and procedures. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Training provided by vendors and internal trainers. Effective communication skills are essential for maintaining a harmonious work environment. Work schedule adherence is crucial. No personal poultry or bird ownership is permitted. Demonstrated ability to read, write, and speak English is preferred.
